Sound of music in Delhi Sells Grado headphones ,right now they are out of stock and are importing more .I guess there will be a price rise due to weak rupees against dollars .

Re: Headphones

What Hifi magazine is giving some sennheiser headphones (costing around 3500) for free with a 3 year subscription (costs 2100). Does anyone know which model is that and how good are these headphones.
Is this a good deal. There is no discount on the price of the magazine if you are getting the free headphones. The one year sub comes for about 20% off if I remember correctly.

I mainly listen on headphones on my office computer. Currently I am using some crappy ear phones that came with my sony walkman a few years ago. The sound card on the pc is also on the motherboard and is crappy. Is it a good idea to get expensive headphones with such equipment. While travelling I also listen to my age old discman, but I dont travel that much anyway.

Re: Headphones

Just did an interesting experiment, I compared my Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 and Bose QC3, and a pair of fairly expensive Sony headphones ( i forgot the model number, but they cost about 4,500 bucks). We tested it with Audio CDs (sheffield labs), and some MP3s.

The ATs were miles ahead in terms of detail and clarity. The Bose had a bit of a mid-bass bump that made stuff like rock a bit more "fun", but couldn't match the ATs in terms of clarity, and on a crowded track like Deep Purple's "sometimes i feel like screaming" the sound on the ATs was exhilarating, every single instrument and track in that recording was clearly and faithfully reproduced. The Sony just sounded muddy and quite miserable in comparison to the other two.

It's easy to test run these headphones on my laptop because it was has two headphones outs. Of course it would be better to check with audiophile level equipment, but I don't have it :-P

Re: Headphones

Now you will understand why people who know about other products hate BOSE so much .Bose doesn't sound good for the money they charge.

in b.w do you know from where I can get Audio-Technica products in DELHI ?

Re: Headphones

I don't think Audio-Technica is marketed in India through official channels. You may be able to get hold of it if you know a grey market supplier though. I had my sister pick it up from New York.
