SWG vs AWG ready reckoner.

Folks,
People selling cables in india mostly use the word guage and no qualifier (AWG or SWG).
Technically, we in india should be using the SWG as the guage. Here is the table depicting the difference between the two.

I couldn't access the link. Anyways it just 2 standards and one is way popular than the other. Till such time you know what you are doing and use the matching cables to your components, you shoudl be alright. Dont get too strung up on standards as many have lost popularity in our own lifetime!
