Re: CD cleaning

Hi,

Try the Philips cd spray as its very effective, use the Anti-static cd cleaning cloth ( not a cloth but some sort of velvet with different material). I used these and seems ok to me !

Regards.

Re: CD cleaning

Hey that sounds like a good idea. I sometimes use the antistatic cloth bit that I got with my cellphone these days.

But to be frank, unfortunately in my case, involuntarily I start with wiping the CDs on my t-shirt (yeah.. I know, I know) before sliding them in to the tray! It worked beautifully for all these years

mekr, were you mentioning about the fungus kinda stuff on old cds, the type that doesnt come off no matter what you do - but strangely they seem to playback with out any obvious problems!

Cheers.

Re: CD cleaning

I just soak them in a mild detergent mix for about 2 minutes. Take them out, rinse well and put on a newspaper to dry by itself.

Proper handling throughout.

Adventure CD cleaning

I have been wiping my DVD & Cd's with the special cloth which i got with the dnp fibre screen.

I would not have the guts to wipe the CD on t-shirt or soak them in detergent, it is only you good people can do this, because you'll know too much about the av accessories and equipments, by the way after eating food, very often i wipe my hands in my trouser pockets.

Vinay.

Re: CD cleaning

Hi,
Can clean with any MICROFIBRE cloth as there are no chances of scratches.
Scotch Brite is now making these small microfibre dusters and retailing all over.I bought one from Rhythm House for Rs 70.
For those stubborn stains/marks that dont come off try the phillips cleaner as mentioned above. I have a bottle of CleanSpin which is similar and works well too.
Actually in mumbai i have a problem with excessive moisture on the cds(live close to the sea) and hence this cleaning cloth is very handy.
Regards

Re: CD cleaning

Hi,

You are not alone Unleash I do it all the time aswell (though use vests (baniyan) cloth) but I've seen sometimes it makes few scratches.

Nowadays I've found the best Idea ! I copy all my original discs and use them only keeping my valuable originals in the locker ! hence even if the cds conks burn another one and use (cost of a blank cd is hardly anyhting to worry too much) !

Anyway coming to the topic, one can use Iso-propel alcohol which is available in any electronics spare parts shop (but be careful to make sure that is a genuine stuff). It works perfectly with any type of dust ! another alternative to mask the scratches is,take a very very small quantity (make sure not to use much) of cocoanut oil and gently polish the disc using some cloth (as mentioned baniyan cloth is the best) it works like a charm. give it a try and see guys !!

Regards.

Re: CD cleaning

My Onkyo DVD player started giving message No disk every time i inserted a dvd even new purchased, I thought perhaps the dvds had some problem ven made my mind to return one of them. Then I noticed the dvds which were earlier palying fine also player gave message No Disc. I used all sort of dry lens cleaners from Philips to others, but of no help. I opened my dvd player, pulled lens to comfortable position from the hood where i can directly see it from top, cleaned with little wet bud replaced cover and every dvd now works fine.
