Selling stuff on the forum

I have seen more than a few For Sale posts by some of our "members". It is pretty obvious that these guys are second-hand dealers/resellers who are using this forum as a very convenient place to hawk stuff at a profit. Is this right?
IMO, the point of this forum, any forum, is to share ideas/opinions/seek and get help. These members contribute nothing to the discussions here. I dont mean members like odyssey or absolute sound - I have seen them contributing in a healthy manner to discussions. But some others just post a series of For sale ads.
seems wrong to me.

Hi,
Buddy you are not alone !! there are many including me who think in the similar lines have warned such dubious dealers to atleast make an effort to clean-up their act !! but it so seems that its of no use !!

So instead of we bothering over this issue,I think its best to just ignore such ads and continue with our regular discussions !! this way without responses they are bound head other places and automatically cleaning this forum!

So thats that !! what all the folks say ??

Regards.

I agree very much with you Sreekanth
By now, all the regular members would know about the so called sellers. How can they even expect someone will purchase anything from them when no one knows anything about who they are and other things.
Still its OK for them to bombard the forum with their selling list

I dont mean offence to members who are here since a while and have been selling stuff regularly and have been very transparent.

Re: Selling stuff on the forum

perhaps the moderators could introduce a rule where a member needs a minimum number of posts (e.g. 25 or 50) to be able to post in the For sale sub-forum.

Re: Selling stuff on the forum

i think some selling ads may lead to good sellers also....

what happens some times, to contribute to the audio video technical and other info many sellers ,even 'good sellers' possess less knowledge about AV gear

in that case i agree i disagree kind of posts are of no big help to people here

...i suggest such seller should be viewed as "guest sellers"
and "max guest seller ads" in a month should be limited...

i am sure admin panel is well equipped with a suitable policy .. that will prevent any bombardment of sell ads

Regards

Kaushik

Re: Selling stuff on the forum

Hi
OK I agree I put my ad on this forum.( And waiting for responce!)But I am not a dealer. Please note that in audio there are lot of guys who keep on upgrading. Unfortunatly I am one of them. And what shall we do with old gear?? As any well built componant have a good life left. And we require some capital to support this hobby !!!))
Or sometimes I just get bored of a system and sell it and buy new one.
Earlier I used AD Mag ( AD Newspaper that was) and Kijiji ; I got a vey good responce.
More than that I developed contacts with audio enthus and sometimes sold our stuff to each other or informed each other about " wahtaever new stuff in market..So in all it was a good expereince.
I really enjoyed this forum and and had some postings. I want to abide by the rules. And plaese take these as my personnel views.

I second Hemant , may be the moderator can charge a fee for these ads.

Re: Selling stuff on the forum

Hi,
sorry, joined late on this discussion..infact i wanted to start this discussion, but good someone else started..quite recently, the FOR SALE forum seems to be hacked by some people who have so many products to sell !!!!!!! what my suggestion(which is already highlighted by many at different occasions) is to make the seller put the price for the same, with picture, with owner details(whether he is the first, second or 5th or 6th owner!!),condition etc in a well prescribed format..and to avoid such advertisements as - "putting this on behalf of my friend" , "contact for price" etc..if its a genuine sale, he will put all details..(in the initial stage of joining this forum, i have done such mistake when i wanted to sell my turntable etc)..i find this forum one of the best when it comes for av discussions and to great extent getting quality pre used items..request forum members to strictly scrutinize the post before appearing in the forum..I HAVE NOT TRIED TO HURT or PINPOINT someone when i said all those..cheers

Re: Selling stuff on the forum

I Agree
And I respect your right to get full information and satisfaction from the product.
I hope I tried to comply with most of the said criteria ( in fact on good quality images in my ad I mentioned they are taken from net.) and I feel that in purchase process person must audition the item.
In fact I am worried that this forum will be hacked by global cheaters -mostly from Nigeria,China and Eastern Europe. Request all members to beware from such posts.
