Oh yes indeed, I've some of his music in my collection & have heard it many times with great pleasure.
Among other vocalists which I hold in high regard(Incl Pt Bhimsen Joshi,BTW ! ),are Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan,Ustad Amir Khan).
In the current crop, I have a lot of respect for Ustad Rasid Khan, Pt Ulhas Kashalkar,among others.
Would be interested in reading abt your Fav artistes....

Bade Ghulam aliji is indeed mesmerising, I also adore Kishori Amonkar for the sheer bhaava she portrais in her renderings, and yes I DO enjoy listening to Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, its not that i hate it, its just that i enjoy the meaning part of the raaga and the verses more.


I hope you have heard the Cheej in Nand (Rajan ab to aaja) by Kumarji, its a personal favourite.

Dagda - Celtic Trance

Surprisingly this is not at all a Trance album
This is a New-Age album by one of the very fine bands in one of the finest genre.

"DEEWANA" by sonu nigam

i am listening to "DEEWANA" pop albumby Sonu Nigam. i think this is the indian pop album where all songs can be listened at one go. as i have always felt that indian pop artists give a pop album where one or two songs are listenable but in deewan all compositions are excellent.

I finally picked up and installed my new turntable. So it was time to check out the LP records again. The two records that gave me goose pimples were:
- Last Of The Breed (Willie Nelson, Ray Price & Merle Haggard). This two LP set got a Grammy this year (2008). The old fellows have great voices. Very good album if your are into acoustic and vocal music.
- Mehdi Hasan (self titled studio album, released in 1975). Great ghazals in his really nice voice. Every time I listen to this LP, I wonder how they could record the voice so well. Listen to :
- Gulon mein rang bhare
- Phool hi phool khil uthe
- Patta Patta

BTW, reply to an earlier question:
Among the Hindustani classical performers I like Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Rashid Khan, Girija Devi, Ali Akbar Khan, Pt. Bheemsen Joshi, etc. I also listen to a lot of classical folk stuff.
