Review: (Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more)

Here Sir Yehudi Menuhin introduced to us a very romantic, yet not overly done, intrepetation of some of the finest works written for violin. …..these violin concertos are absoutely wonderful, and there is so much romanticism and emotions put into it.
Menuhin used very wide vibrato and tended to sound out of tune..

Review: (Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more)

This is more than just "Bach lite" with his pieces played on a variety of different instruments. The music is given a decidedly Brazilian flavor. This works better on some pieces than others, but the overall effect sounds quite good to my ears. It is nice to hear the old familiars with a new and pleasing twist.

Here is an excellent blend of classical Bach and classical Brasilian--and only the Brazilians could make Bach so "dancible"! It is really an enjoyable mix of Bach interpreted in a decidedly Brazilian accent.

3> (2 great albums from Kadri Goplanath)

Saxpohone – Kadri Goplanath
Kadri Goplanath : Classical Instrumental (Saxophone)

It took Kadri Gopalnath (born: Kalaimamani Kadri Gopalnath) nearly twenty years to adapt the saxophone to the intricacies of Indian classical music, but, his acclaim has continued to grow. In a review of a concert by Gopalnath, The London Times wrote, "(Gopalnath's) soft, legato, flurries meshed perfectly in an unusual grouping of violin, Jew's harp and mridangam drum". The Illustrated Weekly Of India took a similar view, claiming "(Gopalnath's) music would make a stone melt". Born into a musical family, Gopalnath initially followed his father's footsteps and played the nadhaswaram, an Indian instrument similar to the clarinet. He also studied vocal music for five years in Mangalore. A turning point in Gopalnath's musical development came when he attended a concert by a brass band at a place in Mysore. Fascinated by the group's saxophone player, he swore to learn the instrument. With his father's encouragement, he began studying with the band's saxophonist, Lakshi Narasimhaiah. Relocating to Madras, in 1975, he continued to study the saxophone under T.V. Gopalakrishnan. Within two years, he was proficient enough on the instrument to perform his debut concert. Gopalnath's first major break came when he was invited to compose and perform on the soundtrack of a highly successful film, Duet. Attracting international attention, he began to tour throughout the world, performing at jazz festivals in Berlin, Prague, France and Mexico. In 1994, Gopalnath became the first South Indian classical musician to perform in the BBC Promenade concert

6> Album: Music from the motion picture : Titanic

Label: SONY BMG

Composer: James Horner

Text and review: (Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more)

Horner's combination of synths, chorale, and orchestra perfectly underscores the action in director James Cameron's 20th-century melodrama. It's a finely honed piece of Hollywood craftsmanship from a composer who has tackled more musically adventuresome projects in his career. FYI: Horner's follow-up to Titanic was the score for a different disaster: Deep Impact.

The centerpiece of the collection, of course, is "My Heart Will Go On." We hear echos of this song throughout various selections, most notably in "Rose," and the Celine Dion vocal occurs near the end of the CD. Although it has been incredibly over-exposed, it is really quite good: the lyrics are memorable, and the melody plays to the sort of emotional creshendo at which Dion is so expert, and I find this particular version more enjoyable than the radio version that has been played to death.

This album contains the best of the various Celine Dion "My Heart Will Go On" versions.

Label: Times Music

Artist:

Music Director: Khayyam

Play back singers: Asha Bhosale, Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, Talat Aziz, Jojo, Shuvra Guha, Ustad Rashid khan, Keya Acharya

Yatra is a multi-layered film – the writer is travelling from one place to another. On one of his trips, there's a co-passenger, a filmmaker who admires the writer. He feels the subject could make for an interesting film. So he's conceiving the film visually. "The film has two layers – the visualisation of the filmmaker and imagination of the writer. So, the creative processes of both come to light. The dichotomy between fact and fiction is also depicted because, in any writing, you combine fact with fiction – you base your ideas on things that are real, sometimes unreal and sometimes surreal. It's a combination

No , I am working in an IT industry for living. The CDs I am selling are from my cousin's personal collection, who recently relocated to Australia. While leaving country , he asked me to dispose off many of his personal belongings such as TV, washing machine, microwave, motorbike, Tata Sky dish, couple of cell phones, some furniture items, books (all gone) and this bunch of CDs.

CDs were packed in about half a dozen boxes (at three different physical locations) . I am opening one box at a time, checking each and every CD by playing on my system, if found Okay, I first, decide whether to buy it for myself or put it on forum for sale ( if I already own the same album or some if I don't like it) so CDs are appearing on this forum at periodic intervals. Now I am almost through with it as the last lot is being checked.

By the way, I am not making a single paisa out of this whole exercise.

Buy with confidence, all CDs are good and price is very attractive.

Hope this helps.

Regards

SUhas

Re: Some more CDs for sale.

I had ordered the SUFI set from Suhas. I am fairly new to the forum and had never interacted earlier with Suhas

I will frankly say that when i was about to place the order I was a little worried about the charges I am paying for courier. I mean I felt comparing to what i am paying for the cds it was a little steep
But today once i got the package I doubt I will ever need to think that way.
The packing was 4 layered (PVC film, brown paper, corrugate liner, foam) tightly taped. It was so well done that any kind of bad handling by the courier company would not spoil the cds inside.
And the CD's dont have a single scratch on them and the cases are as good as new.
I got my parcel a day late due to some confusion in the address. I could not get through the local DTDC office so being worried I mailed Suhas to contact franchise over there. Before I could convey to him that the DTDC guys have called me and send me the parcel, he went all the way to the local DTDC office to give a complaint. I never expected him to take such pains.

So anybody else who has doubts like me, put them to rest because Suhas is a wonderful person to deal with.

I am not writing all this because I have been told to, but as i placed the order for the first time the doubts I had, it's but natural that many of you would have the same doubts as i had.
It's very hard to digest that someone is just helping his cousin to sell off the cds and not earning a bit out of it. World is such that we cant believe it initially. The same thing happened to me but now all my doubts are cleared.

Re: Some more CDs for sale.

Thanks Rikhav for your feedback. It was my pleasure to deal with you. In fact during this CD Sale all people I dealt with were nice and considerate one.

I used DTDC Courier because they are good in delivering parcel and I had some good experiences with them in the past. I didn’t check with other courier services such as Blue Dart, Professional and Speed Post who might charge less than DTDC.

It was my responsibly to see that the CDs are packed with care and the parcel reaches in the hands of the buyer secure and in time.

In Rikhav’s case he paid Rs 100 towards shipping and what I paid actually was Rs 80.
In one case I collected Rs 500 towards shipping and spent Rs 450. It is not feasible to return such small sums like Rs 20, Rs 50.

So what I did when such small profit (if one really calls it that way) happens:
  1. If the person orders another set of CDs, I included some free CDs to compensate for any such extra charges happened during the first transaction.
  2. If there is no second order, such extra money with me will go to some noble cause, I am supporting since last two years.
Hope this helps.

Regards

SUhas
