Price Increases

As you all know Inflation is a major concern nowadays We are seeing price increases both in India and outside (bryston and Thiel almost 20% recently). The cause is mainly due to Rs to $ rate having gone south by close to 10% in the last few months along with crude oil prices going up resulting in ridiculous freight charges. If you havent seen price increase in a certain brand/item it could be good but might last only till the current stock runs out at the distributor. E.g. prices for Dali have gone up, the Ikon 6 I believe will now be retailing for high 70K. In general, you can expect 10% or more increase if the crude oil prices continue.
As for the brands that we deal in exclusively, we are still holding out increasing prices for Usher, Odyssey and Emerald Physics, but I see no respite coming....in any case, if we do have to increase prices, it will be as low as possible (depending on the item), this is a committment from our side to our customers. Before any price increases, we will first post here as a heads up to everyone.

Hey i m planning to buy Dali Ikon 5.1 Package and denon 3808..... but my HT room willl be complted by nov-dec...... so shall i wait or buy the goods now..... as the prices are increasing....

I will suggest you to wait and buy the equipment, when you finish building your room , the models you have purchased now may become obselete , there are always new models coming into the market every day , so even though there is a rise in dollar price and other things due to the competition the distributors and dealers will be giving you a good discounts.

For precisely this reason why not go the contrarian way - like Steve Jobs is doing with the price drop on the iPhone? maybe that will give you the "push" for your products in these tough times!

Pranab, i just now saw this post of yours.

I have been telling you from a very long time, that do not consider to buy the audio video equipments and related, because it will take you quite some time to do the acoustic and other related works, so finally sense prevails with you, that you have delayed in buying the equipments.

Furthermore dearest pranab, you do not realize one more thing, that if you would have bought the equipments, and if you would have started using them on regular basis only in say January, then it means for that much period you have run out of warranty, this is quite a dangerous development, please pause and think, you will shiver, and then the mother of a thing is that, as rightly pointed out by a member that during the stocking of your equipments, so many new models would have come out.

I have suffered a lot in the making of my mini theatre, that is why when i see something wrong happening, i point out at length to the members so that they can survive the sick period, etc.

About the pricing, that is not the way to go about it, that in December the prices may come down, this is the most horrible thing which one can imagine, that the price will fall and rise, it is just that you have to buy with some risk management, there is no one in the world who can say when the price will come down or up, like in the case of stock market, everyone says market will fall more, so if this is the case, then stop the empty talks in the garbage of so called views, in such a case you must short sell the market, and make a killing profit.

So pranab, what is the work which is being carried out now in your home theatre.

thanx..... i didnt thought bought the warranty issue..... anyway well the wall work is going to be completely finish within 6-7 days... and then i will start the wiring work and accoustics works.. like.... glass wool ..... & hey shall i put glass wool and on top of that wood flooring so that the sound doesnt travel to the flat below mine..... and also planning to put glass wool and then the gypsum board for the ceiling.....

Pranab, the way you are saying glasswool will be handled, is not the correct way, i will write to you later, in the meantime i hope other members will throw light on this acoustic factor and let us hope that they will be to the point, and not a general explanation as some members can give you a great solution.

Hi all,
Miss jambumali am sure there is more to this than meets the eye. An Apple phone being available at only Rs 8000/-. My take is a newer/upgraded I phone will be out soon and this seems to be the best way to clear all the stocks!

Dear Vinay hope u are now not thinking of short selling at the current market levels! Think that time has passed. Now just lick ur wounds and sit tight, maybe buy a little bit. I know things are looking bleak all around but strange things happen so best to not get caught short.

I personally feel its nice on sridhar's part to inform well in advance. That way if any of the forum members are contemplating a purchase from ARN they may choose to expedite and save some hard earned money.

Dinyaar, thanks, this was the intent and to also warn folks that other distributors do have price increases in the works, so if people are contemplating purchases of other brands, they can check with their dealers or distributors.
Jambumali, if you are interested in anything ARN carries, lets talk but seriously, its not easy to do what S Jobs is doing in a non-commodity market (comparitively), if we had 200% margin or whatever there is in the iphone, we can probably do that

Let us not stray in the animal kingdom, well the licking part, is best left with the dogs and cats.

From where did you get the view that i want to short sell or that i have short sold, please consider to read the post with better frame of mind.

In-fact i am long on the market, in the last several days i have bought around 15 scrips, i work strictly on stop loss basis, before i buy or sell, i know what is my stop loss, i go purely on risk management.

If there is a view that the market fall will be now quite less, since it has fallen a lot, then sure one must put his foot where his mouth is, which shall mean go long on the market, buy a lot of shares, this way one may make a killing or get killed.

In-fact it is shocking when the market reversed from sensex 21,000, with every fall, most of them had to say that this is not the time to short, and there were whispers that this is the time to buy, and then let's say that people have been buying with every fall, then where is the new money to put in the market and let us not forget the whopping losses which people have made.

Let's talk the other way round, if someone was saying that market has reached it's peak of 21,000, then he should have short sold the market and made a killing.

I know for sure one thing, that most of the people will only do empty talk that this is the peak and this is the bottom, so all i say is grow up, man put your foot where your mouth is go short or long.

At the end of the day, one digs his grave, when one has a view that the market will now not fall and that now market will rise, we have to ride the market wave this way or that way.

I am sorry for writing on stocks, in this thread.

So similarly if someone feels that he knows that when the av equipments prices will rise and when it will fall, god save the person.

By the way, did you manage to get the av rack from abroad, if yes, then can you show us the pictures and since you had the interest to come over at my place to see my theatre, when will that happen?
