Arrow Cadence Beats Them All...

All right...I have a Cadence Diva and run it with a pathetic Sherwood 100 W amplifier... thought I will upgrade my setup...Thought I will up my self to a 1.5 Lakh Speaker segment... went down to the Cadence factory at Pune...they played me the Cadence Annina (1.16Lakh) with the VA1 amplifier...played "When you love a Woman" -Journey...wasnt impressed with the thump and punch the amplifier provided...changed the amplifier to Jolida 100 W Hybrid Integrated amp...the punch and warmth was felt immediately....Time to hear the upper range of Cadence...
The Cadence "Amaya" (1.63 lakh) stepped out of the cage and blew me away with the detail, punch, warmth and coolness of sound...
Played "Lifting Shadows Of a Dream" Dream Theater..the speaker played it with ease.. the snare drum never sounded as crisp..also tried Joe Satriani..and Porcupine Tree "Blackest Eyes"(Album "In Absentia") and this groovy metal track was played so well by the Amaya and even in it cacophony the instruments could be read separately...WOW...
The next track sealed it for me..Porcupine Tree "Trains"...an Acoustic ballad....
I didnt wanna even here their Reference speaker "Arca" (4.48 lakh)
Today I though to my self...if i am gonna buy the Amaya....I should try out the other ones in its league...so i went to the B&W and Martin Logan speakers Showroom in mumbai and these speakers costing twice the amount of the Amaya coulnt match the depth and bass and punch....
SO PEOPLE....IF U WANNA BUY ANY HI FI...PLEASE CHECK OUT THE CADENCE RANGE OUT FIRST....THESE SPEAKERS BEAT FOREIGN SHIT TWICE ITS PRICE...TAKE YOUR TIME AND VISIT PUNE AND BE BLOWN...

Re: Cadence Beats Them All...

Alwyn, I too heard the Amayas a few months back & was blown away by the astonishingly realistic soundstaging, depth & clarity-while hearing vocal tracks, it almost seemed as if a mike had been placed inside the singers mouth!
I have also heard B&W's Nautilus 801 (cost-almost 8 lacs a pair) & was left wondering why anyone would pay that kind of money for the sound they produced-they were nice speakers alright but way,way overpriced for hteir performance, and they couldnt match even the Amayas in the mids & highs courtesy the spectacular Electrostatic Panel.
Go for it, man, and do post your experience.

Hey Kamal...
I was expecting opposition on this thread..haha..glad to know you have heard the spectacular Cadence..In Love with them...Although now I am in a dilemma...
I dont know what amplifiers to go for... the Jolida sounded AWESOME...i tried the NuForce and Rotel with the B&W and found the NuForce too DRY with no punch....Rotel had the OK punch factor but no real depth...
Now the Hybrid Integrated amplifier provided me awesome clarity and depth...(wonder what amplifer you heard the Amaya's with???)
I want to go in for a Pre and Power amplifier combination. And I want to go in for the Jolida Hybrid Tube Preamp and A solid State power amplifier....
please help me on this front...Budget is 80K....
100 W RMS to 150 W RMS will be great.
thanks
Alwyn

Also if others reading think that only the high end Cadence sound cool...
The Cadence Diva (Rs. 63000)..i felt...beat the B&W 600 series in their bass and depth and punch...
and Cadence Bookshelves are(50 K) way ahead of the others

Re: Cadence Beats Them All...

You'll be surprised-the owner of the Amayas had hooked them up with an Onkyo surround sound receiver( using the 2 front channels for stereo)/ Philips DVD 3007 player! But such was the quality of the Amayas that it blew us away even with that far from perfect set up.Of course, when we connected a Rotel Integrated Amp & a Denon Universal Player, the sound took on even greater detail, clarity & definition.
Jolidas are great(since you did'nt like Cadences' VA1-& their Canasyas are way too expensive, tho of a supreme quality),as for a SS power Amp, see if you can get hold an Arcam-it blows away NAD/Rotel/Creek etc.
Happy Hunting!

oh hell that was an insane test run for the Amaya. I presently listening to "Neighbourhood" album by Manu Katche on my Cadence Diva. AWESOME.
Anyway you suggestion of an Arcam Power Amplifier will be looked into. I am just worried if the Jolida PreAMP will match them. I have no tech knowledge on these Pre and Power combination. Dont know what specifications to look for in these combinations. Do have any online Tech Advisor or so to consult on these combination.
Anyway...I also have the QUAD 99 Preamp and Power combination in mind...
thanks very much Kamal

Re: Cadence Beats Them All...

Guys,

B&Ws have always been a favourite brand of the seemingly ignorant wealthy who can hardly distinguish between a flute and a fart but nevertheless wanna flaunt themselves as audiophiles. So to compare a speaker to B&W and make yourself feel that you have found the GOD of all speakers would not be correct.

Try some real audiophile range of speakers...like PMC, ProAc, Linn or even MA (to a lesser extent) and then decide if your speakers are good enuf. In terms of electronics try ARCAM, Plinius, Linn, ML...I'm sure you would be surprised...

Come, come,B&W aren't all that bad! Theyre overpriced alright, but from the 700 series on, they are speakers to be auditioned & considered-if they don't sound good to YOUR ears, so be it.
Have heard PMC's, ProAC, Monitor Audio, Mordaunt Short, Quad Esl's,Single- full range driver speakers & many others-and I can confidently state that the Cadence ESL range are something audiophiles should consider very seriously-I for one find the ESL Panel magical, and beautifully integrated with the woofer-you have to hear to believe.

Where did you try out the PMCs? I heard them abroad but then didn't find a dealer / distributor in India to buy from...so settled for ProAc...not to suggest that they are inferior in anyway...infact proacs have been a reveleation since the time I brought them home. The detail, depth and sound staging are so profound...I didn't find anything else that matched up with the studio 140s (in the price range of course).

Having said that I would certainly like to have a go at the Cadence...but are they only available in Pune?
