1. It looks just like the ‘605
2. Changes are the four HDMI 1.3a inputs against the two HDMI sockets on the old model
3. 1080i upconversion for analog signals, Upscaling powered by Faroudja DCDi Edge and 1080p24 signal pass-through.
4. Much classier remote control
5. RIHD – remote control via the HDMI link to control Panasonic’s Viera Link, Toshiba’s RegzaLink and Sharp’s Aquos Link systems. i.e. you'll be able to control Panasonic, Sharp and Toshiba TVs, too.



US price as of today $458.09 ~ Rs 19,463/- Plus Taxes ...
No information on this side of the coast

I guess 606 has only hdmi 1.2 and not 1.3a

Onkyo 506 and 576 are the ones that are hdmi 1.2a. 606 is hdmi 1.3a.

Also the US price is of no help here. 605 was priced more than two times in India.

That applies to virtually entire Onkyo line.

Hi Guys,
I just bought 606 yesterday and in Delhi it is priced the same as 605 ,i.e, Rs.36,000/= but there are plans to frame the price b/w 605 & 705 so it might go to 39,000/=.
And yes, it is HDMI 1.3a .[4 inputs at this price is amaziing !].
506 is also planned for near future with 3 hdmi 1.3a .

Hey Thanks Bs .... would like more inputs from you ... like the setup .. what speakers ... what all that devices have been connected and if you are using the video upscaling feature.

I am in the phase of renovation of my house so for quite some time,I'll not be using all these but these are the proposed connections-
1.Onkyo TX SR 606
2.ONKYO DV CP704 6 DVD changer with hdmi output
3.SONY PS3
4.PIONEER DVD 696AV [for SACD/DVD-A playback]
5.Future option for a Blu Ray player[most likely Panasonic BDP30 or latest upgrade]
6.Sony dvd changer as cd player with Karaoke double mic
7.Worldspace receiver

I am and will be using all Monster cable ,either Z -series or M-series ,imported from US.

Onkyo dvd changer - 606 : hdmi
Sony ps3 - 606 : hdmi
Pioneer 696 - 606 : 6 channel rca + component video
Blu ray - 606 : hdmi
Sony dvd -606 : rca audio + component video
606 - LCD : hdmi
I already have Jamo A340PDD.3 speaker set up [5.1] and I am adding to Jamo wall speakers to complete a 7.1 set up.
Yes , and Samsung 6 series 46" LCD Tv [50,000:1 DCR ,4 HDMI input]
