Re: Connect PC to AV Receiver

If your pc has hdmi output then connect it to the avr. If you don't have one then buy a graphics card with hdmi.

Re: Connect PC to AV Receiver

Update your memory to at least 2GB. 4GB recommended. You will need to add a graphics card with hdmi if you want to connect both audio and video to your avr. If you just want to connect audio only then a sound card with optical or co-axial output will do.

In terms of convenience, definitely yes.

You just connect the media player to AVR, power it up and bingo - you are all ready to go.

The PC is a noisy appliance. There are at least two cooling fans - CPU and chasis. If there is a high-end gfx card, it may also have a fan. All these fans make noise which disturbs the ambience of watching the movie.

Re: Connect PC to AV Receiver

If have a file with dts and 1080p video shall i able to play that file using WD HD media player. I found that wd media player plays mkv file. I want to know whether it will give dts5.1 audio . In the wd media player specs its mentioned that dts2.0 out.

Re: Connect PC to AV Receiver

The dts 2.0 out refers to the stereo output which the player does by down mixing dts surround tracks. The player will pass through dts 5.1 output so that you will get surround effect using AVR. See the link WD TV Live
