Samsung 3D TV vs LG 3D TV

I am going to buy a 3D TV soon. Looking out for Samsung 6 series or LG 4 or 5 or 6 series models.

Would like owners of these types of 3D TV to give a detail info of your model the advantages and disadvantages in 2D and 3D image quality.. and also overall how you are satisfied with your product..

For 3D you would be better off to buy a plasma rather than LED.

Re: Samsung 3D TV vs LG 3D TV

Watched some videos related to the series I have mentioned what I found

LG
Advantages :- Passive 3d viewing so can move your 3D glasses to any angles you like , their 3-d glasses are cheaper and also if you want 3-d glasses of another brand it would be in a range of Rs 200. 3d glasses of lg are very lighter and non-battery operated

Disadvantages :- Since the 3d glasses are lighter in weight so they do tend to break easily if not taken care . Input Lag is seen in most of the models of these series . Also many people had other screen related problems due to which they opted for a replace.

Samsung:-
Advantages :- Better clarity in 3d viewing if you keep your eyes in a range of 90 degree to TV all the time. 3d glasses are well built comparatively so wont break easily .

Disadvantages :- It is heavier and also when it has low battery then it decreased the 3d pq. Also it is costlier to buy will cost more than Rs 2000 also. Also if you lay down in your sofa for watching 3d hd movies then you wont see anything as if the angle is not around 90 degree to the screen then the glasses turned out to black.

Passive 3D can be viewed without flicker in a bright environment. Active causes flicker.

Active 3D is full HD. Produces crisp and more effective 3D. Passive loses some resolution and looks soft. 3D depth is good though.

Btw, who would watch 3D lying? As if watching through glasses with family is not enough a weired thing. Some active 3D sets causes crosstalk and darkened images with tilt of head. Sony is biggest culprit. Active 3D on Samsung's higher models are superb.

Re: Samsung 3D TV vs LG 3D TV

I can share a recent experience: when demo-ing a Sony active 3d tv (one of the latest and expensive models), the movements were "jerky" (like it was happening at a lower fps). But with the glasses off the movements were smoother (although with the double image). The video being played was an official Sony demo clip. I don't know if it was the 3D shutter which was causing the problem or something else, but I concluded I don't want to go the Active 3D route.

Moreover I don't like Active 3D glasses, even the lighter ones are heavy and not comfortable for extended viewing. And if you have kids who may want to watch 3D content - forget it, they're way too big, bulky, heavy and uncomfortable for them.

These days you can buy 5 to 20 passive glasses for the price of one active set. One consideration if you want more glasses at home.

I was not too concerned about the resolution as I plan to sit about 12' away from my screen.

Sorry to not answer specifically about LG or Samsung, but these technologies are so vastly different, that you should first decide on this matter - that is if 3D is an important requirement.

If you can't find any owner thread, that doesn't mean LG LEDs are not good. LG is a big brand and I am pretty sure that they would be having quality products.

I am a supporter of Passive 3D. It is just that I prefer the PQ of plasma more. If there was a plasma with passive 3D, I would have opted for it.

Coming to LG 3D TV's, I am sure that they are good. But I think that they are very overpriced. In my opinion, the price is inflated by 15% at least. The low cost of passive 3D glasses is almost offset by the overpricing.

I don't think LG 3D TVs are overpriced. I just compared the price range of both the brands on naaptol and flipkart and I find LG to be cheaper than samsung.
Also LG is giving free 3d glasses with their 3D TV's(number depends on models) while there is nothing as such when it comes to samsung..
