LG - 32LG80FR - USB video file formats
Hi everyone I have bought LG JAZZ LCD TV (32LG80FR) Can someone help me with the video file formats that can be played through USB. I know its divx but I downloaded a high definition video from DIVX official site and tried to play it on TV but it shows "File not supported". I get this error for many files. Here is file information of files that played and not played: Played file 1 ![]() Played file 2 ![]() Not Played ![]() It appears that the resolution is playing part in this thing. Any help is appreciated. ![]() Regards lgjazz |

Thanks spirovious
I also thought so. Do you downscale HD videos to watch on DVD player / LCD TV If yes then which s/w do you use to do so? Thanks again. |

Re: LG - 32LG80FR - USB video file formats
Thanks spirovious
But I dont need to play it on my CRT as I have already bought an LCD TV. And I think I have paid enough that it should play HD through USB. But I think it supports 720p through USB and the videos that did not play(image shared above) were higher than this resolution. So I am now looking to get around the problem by some trick. May be someone who has tried out video formats/resolutions on an LCD through USB can share some knowledge on this subject. Let us see if some one with LG Jazz or similar product situation has a solution. Thanks again spirovious |

Re: LG - 32LG80FR - USB video file formats
Use "Total Video Converter" to change any video format to any other format/change the resolution to higher/lower.
I change hi-res vids to 720x576 resolution to watch on my LG PQ60 USB. For a free software that does the same thing, try WinX Video Converter 4.0 I haven't used this, so can't say how good it is. Last edited by WHATSINANAME; 27th July 2009 at 08:36 AM. |

So my point to make you read was HTPC/Laptop is best way to play HD files. OR other opt is to convert files to lower format as suggested by others. |

I tried to convert a video from Hi-Res to Low-Res using TVC but it did not work i.e. vid didnt play on LCD. Do we have to just change the resolution or something else too. Also which format do u convert to. Please see the image below. ![]() Quote:
I read somewhere that the hardware is capable of playing the files. Its just that the company doesnt want us to use it yet. Maybe in future models we would see it. The codecs thing might be true but its a recent model so the codecs on it might not be that old. Also I have heard that the LG engineers can upgrade the codecs using USB. |

Convert to divx mpeg4 Attachment 986 Then go into settings Attachment 987 Once there, in the video options reduce the frame rate and bit rate Attachment 988 then resize the video Attachment 989 Now convert the file with these settings and it should play. These are the minimum settings I have given, you can of course, later experiment with the settings and see which is the best quality that plays on your USB drive and use that. You can also use the settings of the files that played (in your first post) instead of the ones I have given, and use those. The quality will naturally be lower than your original video, so if you're going to watch a good movie that you've been looking forward to, it's not worth it, better to burn it on DVD and watch it that way. Re: LG - 32LG80FR - USB video file formats
Thanks for the quick reply WHATSINANAME
I did try the settings and the video did play and the picture quality was good but the video didnt cover the entire screen. Black space on the left and right of the video. Does this happen with you also? |
