Its pretty obvious that sound will be in stereo only. How can a live feed audio be mastered in 5.1 channel on the fly?

I think Colours also will be in HD and the company claims 5.1 sound. Do TV serials have that much budget that they will master the sound in 5.1. Forget the budget, with the serials coming everyday will they have time do that?

There is a lot of misinformation on the site. For starters, there are no 1080P broadcasts in the world today.

The current audio streams are in stereo even in standard resolution. I guess, we may be getting a 480 or 720 P.

Also I am unable to see the pics clearly, seems like black bars up/down and also either the viewer does not have a HD TV or has just not calibrated it or has a really crappy camera or is a terrible photographer. If he/she thinks thats what HD programming is all about, he may want to review some normal DVDs at 480 to understand how much better the quality gets before moving up to 720P and above.

Actually that is not correct. 5.1 channels be "mastered", or should I say "encoded", on the fly and the fact is, there are several channels in the US that broadcast live events in HD with DD 5.1 sound. Sports channels do it almost on a daily basis with all their live coverage.

'Colours HD' as shown by 'SunTV HD' is a total fraud and both companies should be criminally charged for fooling and cheating the consumer. Basically, there is no seperate 'Colours' channel in HD. All they are doing is upscaling their SD 4:3 aspect ratio video and beaming it via 'SunTV HD'. This is very evident from the fact, that all the programming on 'Colours HD', or atleast whatever I have seen of it, is in the 4:3 aspect ratio and as everyone ought ot know, the aspect ratio of an HD picture is 16x9. Ofcourse, the horrible quality of the picture itself is alsoa dead give away, that the signal is nothing but an upscaled version of SD.

PS: The 'SunTV HD' set-top box, shows that the so called 'Colours HD' channel, is in stereo. The IPL matches to show stereo. Whereas, 'Discovery HD' and 'National Geographic HD' both show as Dolby Digital.

Actually, that is not entirely correct. The fact is, that in the US, 'Direct TV' for sure and I think 'DISH Network' too, have been broadcasting, several 'Pay Per View' movie channels in 1080p, for a while now. DIRECT TV in 1080p: The Ultimate Cinema Experience
What is correct, is that so far, there are no commercial broadcasts of 1080p live events.

I have seen the IPL HD broadcasts and I can assure you it is definately HD. Although it may not be at par with the HD broadcast quality I have seen in the US, it is still inifintely better than the crappy SD broadcast of the same IPL games. I had the oportunity to make the comparisons, side by side on two identical 46" Samsung LCD TVs. In fact, I compared the SD broadcast of the IPL on 'SunTV HD' with the IPL in HD on 'SunTV HD'. I also compared the SD broadcast of the IPL by 'TataSky' with the HD IPL broadcast on 'SunTV HD'. In short, no comparison. The HD simply blows the SD picture to where it belongs. Although there is no sure way to confirm, but my guess is that the IPL HD coverage is probably in 720p. For, that is the preferred resolution, rather than 1080i, by most sports broadcasters accross the world.

PS: The set-top box indicated that the HD IPL broadcast was in stereo, while it showed 'Dolby Digital' for both 'Discovery HD' & 'National Geographic HD'.
