I received my topping tp20 a couple of days ago. Since my main system is biamped, that seemed like too much of a headache to test it out there. So I decided to test it out with my altec lansing mx5021. The sound card in my desktop is m-audio revolution 7.1. I connected the satellites to the topping, subwoofer to the center/subwoofer channel of the sound card. The software setting in sc was changed to "stereo with discrete subwoofer" and crossover set to 120hz.

I am not going to discuss the sound quality improvements in the satellites as that has been discussed plenty in the other topping thread. enuf to say that there was plenty of improvements. What I am talking about is bass management. Since now the bass management is with sound card now, instead of the 5021, all the boom of the sub is gone. earlier it was horrible, very difficult to tame the bass, now all that is gone and I can actually use this for music. Heck, even my wife noticed all this.

so those who have any 2.1 system and have purchased topping, please give it a shot and see the improvements for yourself.

I too have July 2007's model of MX-5021 and I am running it on ASUS Xonar DX, so My question is will it be any noticeable difference in SQ after I switch it to NAD C326BEE?

The NAD C326BEE will overdrive the 5021 speakers, as the NAD churns out 50W RMS whereas the 5021 sats are rated at 20W RMS.
I believe the topping power rating will be perfect for the 5021 sats.

if you already have it, try it out.
go easy on the volume. if you increase it too much, there is a chance you might blow the speakers.

if you are yet to purchase it, first figure it out how you are going to connect it. xonar is a 2 channel sound card and it wont have a subwoofer out. you will be feeding the entire signal to the nad. does it have a sub out. if not, you might have to take the tape out signal and feed it to the 5021 sub.

and yes, the nad will be a good addition in terms of sound quality. almost any amp will be a better choice than the amp inside the 5021 sub.

FYI the sats in 5021 are 6 ohms, nad shouldnt have an issue with that. the current crossover is 150hz.
