Hello there! I need advice on adding a center speaker to my current 4.1 Surround setup (Creative Inspire 4400). I can't afford to buy a new system and besides this works like a charm. So all I wanted to was add a center speaker directly to my sound card which supports 7.1. Any suggestions?

You can try putting a adder circuit from the left and right channel and amplify this to the center channel. Typically the center channel has information which is common to both left and right channel in a more amplified form. The surround channel usually have difference signal from the left and right channel. The surround channel can be created by using a comparator and amplifiying the difference signal.

Cheers,

For somewhat of a match to your current Creative Inspire speakers, I would get the Inspire T10. Use just the right speaker (the one with the amp) or use both speakers (dual-centre).

Yeah, you can add a mono amp and a matching speaker directly to the center-out of the sound card and set the speaker set-up as 5.1 in your sound card config. But there is no way to integrate the speaker with your existing creative setup. You will have two sets of volume controls - one for your creative system and one for the new center speaker. Could get interesting... please post details here if you actually do this.

Cheers.
