Advice on Speakers for Yamaha RX V 373

Hi All,

My Location: Pune

Recently I bought a Yamaha RX V373 AV Reciever from

Room Size : 15 x 14
Front Speakers I already have : Philips 3 way tower Speakers, Specifications: 8 ohms, 75 Watts

Speakers are on brighter side.

Will this front speaker work on v373. If yes please suggest center and surround speakers which matches with the front tower speakers. Also suggest an active subwoofer.
My budget:
Center + Surround: under Rs. 10k
Subwoofer: approximately Rs. 10k

My usage will be:
Music: 50% (MP3s on USB, Audio CD, TV channels)
Movies: 30%(5.1 channel DVDs, Stereo VCDs and TV channels)
TV Serials: 20% remaining.

Or should I be better off by going for a complete 5.1 speaker package, In that case please suggest a 5.1 speaker package for Yamaha RX V373. Although that will exceed my budget.

Hello,

I have just purchased the Yamaha RX-V373.

I have already having a 5.1 speaker set of a Sony HTIB, with the following specs :
Front Speakers : 60 + 60 W, 8 ohms at 1kHz, 10% THD
Centre Speaker : 60 W, 16 ohms at 1kHz, 10% THD
Rear Speakers : 60 + 60 W, 8 ohms at 1kHz, 10% THD
Passive Subwoofer : 100 W, 8 ohms at 100Hz, 10% THD

Can I connect this existing speaker set to my Yamaha Rx-V373 ?

Finally ended up buying the JBL combination of 4 Control One, 1 Control Now and 1 140P Sub speakers, to connect to my Yamaha Rx-V373.
Am happy with the end result.....thanks to one and all, for all the valuable inputs provided to me over the last several weeks, which helped me in zeroing down on my home theatre system.

Auditioned Bose acoustimass 10 ..with a higher yamaha avr....exeeeding my budget
looking for sub 50k speakers usage for watching movies mainly and music sometimes....

I have 373 and I am currently using my sony bs as fronts temporarily. Planning to get a centre soon (most probably sonodyne - Sonodyne Sonus C2501 Centre Channel Speaker).
