Hi,
Havent been following the local new TV sales scene in India!

Are there any current LED TV models in which the backlighting is Local Dimming technology.

Have a 2 year old LH90 and currently looking to purchase another local dimming set.

3D model preferred. Cost no bar !

Minimum screen size of 40"

Only one. Sony Bravia HX925

46" 1.5 lacs
55" 2.6 lacs
65" 3.6 lacs

What about the 46NX720 and 850 and 750 series?? they all have dynamic edge which is local dimming right?? I think the OP dint specify if he wanted full array local dimming or just the edge one!

Dynamic Edge LED is not equal to local dimming.

He has mentioned he wants to upgrade from his LH90, which was a full array local dimming LED. So its quite obvious he is looking for full array local dimming LED.

The HX925 has a backlight based local dimming it has around 96zones or more depending on the size ,where as the edge local dimming tvs have around roughly around 8 to 16 zones

LH90 has 512 zones for 42" and 1024 zones for 47"

Unfortunate, that no proper full array Local Dimming sets are now available in India.

Maybe will sit it out another couple of years, till the OLED TVs (LG EM9600) become mainstream.

Till then long live LH90.

Have gotten used to full array LD. Difficult to "upgrade" to edge lit models !

HX925 has PQ on par, if not better than your LH90. Also has deeper blacks. So go check out the HX925 Bravia. Also that's incorrect info you posted there (or maybe they are LG figures) but LH90 has actual 80 dimming zones, less than the HX925 which has 96 dimming zones as Adder mentioned.

I believe you meant it has that many LED emitters, its highly unlikely that it has that many zones.

The reason why the LG may have a higher zone count is because of their native poor blacks,if they had the same number of zones like HX92 ,then you would easily make out the light seeping into other non dimmed zones aka halos ,since IPS based displays have rather poor light blocking capability.

The HX925 being of SPVA origin or some hybrid panel, doesn't need so many zones as the LG since its native blacks are far superior.

The HX925 produces the deepest blacks of any tv sold thus far in india.Even internationally its second only to the sharp elite.

Yup man :) Actual number of dimming zones in LH90 was 80. And also the Nano LED models released last year also have around 80 zones whereas LG initially advertised them to have 220+ zones. Later they corrected themselves

Well ChadB actually rates HX92X better than Sharp Elite in overall performance.
