I was hoping to get a Schiit SYS from Headphone Zone but they have been out stock for some time with no definitive eta. Imported ones offered via likes of Amazon seem expensive.

So wondering if anyone is aware of some other brand availble that does the same thing. Looking for passive preamp to feed the power amp, dont want it to mess with sound signature from the DAC. Just need it to control the volume and switch 2 inputs - one from DAC and other input from Android TV's Headphone Out.

preamp is a very vital part and without a preamp it always has sounded dry to me, preamp is there for a reason, my 10 cents, ymmv though

I use to have preamp but it died six months ago  have been running without for a while and its OK, I quite like it. But cant control the damn volume lowest setting on Tata Sky is too loud at times.

My long term plan is to get a modern design combi DAC/PreAmp from Singapore or when I next go to the UK. Something like Matrix X-Sabre Pro perhaps.

I just need something to get me by for now a so Schiit SYS or similar would get me by for now.

Why don't you try the diy preamp from @Aniket it will come way cheaper than sys and is good and transparent.

Hi, I have a Schiit SYS that i am not using anymore. Down sizing to just one setup. PM me if interested.

I would say buy a chinese tube buffer for the volume control ( FX 01 is recommended) and a cheap 3 input AV switch for the input selection

Sounds like an interesting option, do you need get some exotic Russian or GE Valves to make it sound very good?

Also, do you have a link to the FX 01 you mention above?

I did not think of it this way. But I second this is an option worth trying. I got improvement with little dot preamp.

This is the case with most tube buffer / preamps. If you like the default Chinese tubes it's fine, else could consider rolling. So better buy ones that have more rolling options

the stock tube is not bad, but the Russian and GE tubes make it sound better. I use them and the cheap AV because it saves the pots on my vintage amps from wear and tear. Has decent tube rolling options - https://www.head-fi.org/threads/little-dot-tube-amps-vacuum-tube-rolling-guide.563884/ check out the EF95 family53517150_2639998176015818_5913228501170782208_o.jpg
Here it is doing duty with my setup - the AV Switcher is hidden, and used to switch between the CDP, tuner and BT Receiver

WOW I really like your equipment :)

Really love all the classic Japanese gear you have there very nice. What's the one at the bottom of the rack with the nice Analogue meters looks like a Kenwood Amp, very tasty.

Also thanks for the link will look into FX Audio and Tubes further.

FX Audio TUBTUBE-01

It's available on Amazon India. I guess this option is better than AliExpress. I might also pick this once back home.

Another option is VIPECO FX-Audio Bluetooth 6K4 Tube Amplifier Preamplifier Audio Board (Silver EU) Reliable Quality and Durable https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07Q2889ZN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EDjXCbYEGR97A.

This can take 2 inputs plus has Bluetooth input.
