I came across this article on Audiophile bars and was wondering Aug there were any such in Bangalore? (Or any other Indian city)
The few pubs I visited play very loud music that makes me uncomfortable soon. Most people there seemed to be having a good time though. Any suggestions?

Had been to wlWindmills while on an official visit to Bangalore. The setup was indeed good (as was their beer)!

My cousin's band used to play at Bluefrog and I used to go for the gig every few months, they had a full L Acoustic rig if my memory serves me well, brilliant sound. Sadly, the place no longer exists.

I think the only place I visited that paid attention to how the music sounds is Shisha Jazz Club in Pune.
The place got me into jazz when I was studying in Pune.
Every Thursday was a jazz gig. And every time we’d visit the restaurant, Mehdi uncle, the owner of the place would play Jazz tunes through the over head Cadence speakers. They have around 10 of these speakers mounted on the soft ceiling (it is an open air restaurant). The soft roof has Iranian carpets all over and the vibe of the place is such that you just slow down, forget about the anxieties and just listen to some good jazz while sipping the Iranian chai.

Its been many years I've been away from Bangalore.

The one's I remember to have the best sound was Tavern at the Inn on Museum Road. It was a tight space and their Mackie speaker set up was music to the ears.

The other was The Windsor Pub (the original place. Now shut). They had a simple Pro Fx sub sat speaker set up connected to some vintage amps and played tape very often. The sound was fantastic. Even though the beer out of the tap tasted like horse piss, the people (waiters included), the excellent food and music was enough to send me back here over an over. Also; you could eat and drink to your hearts content and not end up with a bill exceeding Rs. 1100 per head! I used to tip generously for the excellent service. Good luck finding a place that offers it all today at even 2x that figure. Its impossible.

I've had mixed experience with places that did live sound. My friends played often at Hard Rock in the City. In fact they just did a Iron Maiden tribute show a few days ago. There are times this place sounds great and some days it does not. Perhaps the person manning the mixer makes a difference.

Bangalore used to have so many live gigs at pubs and big concerts. Once upon a time, Bangalore was a heaven for Live Music, Theatre, Musicals and what not.

Listing a few:

Strawberry Fields - National Law School
Freedom Jam
Numerous Rock Fests across colleges
B-Flat
Hard Rock Cafe
Counter Culture
Styx
Blue Frog
Many pubs in Indiranagar - Open Mic
Radio Indigo
Purple Haze
Satyas
Cellars
Pecos
Windsor Pub
Opus
This list can go on and on....

Bangalore died a long time ago! I don't have words to explain whats come of it now !

That’s sad for people like us.
As the one saying goes “change is the only constant”, but some changes are sad.
Hoping a new crop of such places come up. I guess it depends on the demand and current tastes.
I noted several places are showing sports (mostly cricket)
Weekend music sounds dangerously loud and of poor quality in some of the places I visited.
Good music and quality audio seem to be low priority.
