I don't think LCD panel will die all that quickly on you. I have been using/abusing my 22" Dell LCD monitor for close to 3 years now and still not a single dead pixel. Even when my PC's motherboard got fried by an electricity surge the monitor remained unaffected.
But wrt electronic components on the TVs, can't say. Maybe adder is right on that front.
