I have not seen any Bose 501 on their website.
There are 2 models 901 & 301
901 costs approx Rs1,20,000/- & 301 Rs.22,000/-

That Particular model is strong on Bass

Check the Driver Surrounds carefully before buying, they

normally melt away and this must be 12-13 years old

the Midrange is not bad, slightly colored but not harsh

the is no real treble from this

the perceived treble is really only upper midrange

I have 901 series VI and 301 series IV

Try it and see, if it floats your boat with your kind of

music go for it, modern recordings will be wasted on this

unit ( 501 ) because its resolution is poor but tonality is

quite OK but bassy, if you listen MP3, early recordings

hindi film music, it will sound better than many modern speakers

but check the Woofer surrounds before buying, they are hidden

in this model, I have seen 501 being offered for sale in OLX Mumbai

for 30-35 K because of Bose Name, so I dont think your chances are

good for 15K but you may be lucky, all the best

the best of the old series was 601 Mk11, the woofers can be

checked easily in this and 4 eight inch cones give really

room filling sound, with both 8 inches tuned and ported

at different frequencies, getting a mint pair of these is almost

impossible though
