Bugatti

Would you like to look at the specifications ......
112.gif

Endowed with W16 engine-16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders fed by four turbochargers, a dual-clutch DSG computer-controlled manual transmission, Varyon can acceleration, reaching 100 kph in 2.6 seconds
13.gif

Counting a sum of 10 radiators, for the engine cooling system, for transmission oil, a heat exchanger for the air to liquid intercoolers, for engine oil etc., The car has a power to weight ratio of 529 bhp/tonne.(1000 Horsepower)

Other blazing technicalities .......

Seven gears
A dual clutch system
Sequential shifting
A paddle-driven, computer-controlled shifting system

There is no clutch pedal or shift lever for the driver to operate -- the computer controls the clutch disks as well as the actual shifting. The computer is able to shift gears in 0.2 seconds..

Veyron has full-time all-wheel drive. By applying the engine's power to all four wheels through a computer-controlled traction-control system, the car is able to harness all of the engine's horsepower, even at full acceleration

Top speed of Bugatti Veyron is 253.2 miles per hour (407.5 km/h), a speed limited electronically to prevent tire damage. So whats the fuel consumption.......ofcourse a staggering 40.4 L/100 km (4.82 mpg or roughly 1liter per 2.5 KM) when it`s running at top speed and in city driving 24.1 L/100 km...

At that speed the car requirs a massive downforce to keep it on ground. There is a wing (spoiler) at the back of the Veyron that extends automatically at high speed to increase downforce and keep the car glued to the road.

Check out few stunning videos of this roooccckkkiiinnngggg machine

So finally whats the cost ...... $1,700,000 and $100,000 for exclusive shipping

At the other end of the spectrum is the Red Victor 1 (now 2). This guy in England took a Vauxhall, replaced the stock 100hp 4 cylinder engine with a 9.3 liter Chevy V8, added a couple of turbos among other things.

The engine now delivers 2300hp!
0-60mph (96.5kmph) in 1 second.
Quarter-mile in 7.4 seconds.

Saw this car being reviewed in Topgear the other day - completely blew my mind, and all this done by a single middle-class guy.

No way this will handle like the Veryon or will have its finesse, but I thought it will be a good contrast of sport car vs muscle car, and what a single ordinary guy can do, given enough perseverance and passion.

Edit: You can see the video at: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xtjve_2000-hp-street-car_auto
The guy spent 100k pounds, which isn't all that bad!

^^ mmmmm Yea that looks astonishing, but actually its more like a drag racer car with the fastest acceleration within a particular stright line distance using Nitro. Its a modded car surely not ment for speed. There is nothing in the design to maintain the downforce.........plus Veyron is not about a just V8 or V10, its a W16 that was specifically designed with high quality worksmanship to get the desired result. The purpose of the car is to hit that acc and 400+ speed throughout its life, hence things like those 4 chargers and 10 radiators. Veyron design has its specific purpose in every aspect, its not ment for just couple of shots to get itself nominated for one run drag awards.
There are other card like Djuric's Supra and Andrej's Skyline ment for records, but I think Veyron is in all together different class, considering it as a complete regular car package.

Oh yes, completely agree with you. Muchos respectos for the Veyron, that is one heck of a race car.

I posted my earlier comment not to compare, only to contrast. The one thing that stood out is the fact that this is a perfectly street-legal car, which not many extremely modders have been able to achieve. So it is not just a drag race car, but a fully functional car. But yeah, you can't really race this car in any meaningful way.

dammit, had typed a huge bit of trivia on the veyron, and bang......power cut !!!here goes some titbits..

the veyron was purely an exercise to showcase VW capabilities, hence the numbers/figures.trivia-every bolt that goes into it is pure titanium alloy, costing upto 60 euros.the column stalks cost 3000 euros each.the v4 used as a base was from the humble golf(vr4).take 4 of those and mate them on a common crank,1 turbo charger for each 4 cyl,and voila, the W16!!previously unheard of config.the parameters set then by the VW group chairman,dr piech, was thought unnattainable according to the design team, and yet, there it is,in flesh and blood.the first version, when started up,produced so much torque that the chassis twisted on itself when 1st gear was engaged.now thats something.remember, this is a road legal car, just can blow away to smithereens any race spec machine in figures.in fact the first drive to launch the car was by dr.piech on an oval racetrack, taking it to max speed.talk about top brass having faith in their products :eek:hyeah:.

even the vw phaeton, had such a huge list of parameters set by dr.piech, for production.done only to showcase that vw could build a car that was better in every way than the merc s class/lexus/bmw 7 series.the factory is an architectural marvel, with deliveries to customers taking the form of a theatre type play.nutcases.trivia-one design parameter was that a glass of wine set on the bonnet should not spill its contents at 150kph.strange eh?the a/c has an indirect mode, where u dont see any vents.the fascia folds up and displays only a huge bank of wood panelling, air comes thru unseen channels.it even doesnt cause interior condensation,no matter what u do inside.jeremy clarkson of 'top gear' was shown boiling tea in a kettle inside for an hour,in cold, rainy, scottish weather,..and zilch.amazing.

being the car nut that i am,i could go on and on....:D.cheers
