Can someone confirm if some old movies on amazon/apple are True HD

Yesterday, I rented an old Elvis movie " Fun in Acapulco" from amazon prime, which stated that it was available in HD. To my eyes, the quality was no better than an inferior DVD transfer. Even some " remastered" DVD movies on the Warner/MGM label look better.
Can anyone confirm if my assessment is correct- and has anyone watched similar content on apple TV( marginally costlier) is true HD ?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Any old movie will just be remastered and upscaled quality not true HD in any form.

That cannot be correct, Sir. I have many movies on Blu-ray like " Casablanca" or " My Fair Lady" to name just two old classics, that are totally restored and in absolute pristine quality. I also have the 4 K versions too.

What is the definition of "restored" ? From what source content?
