Hi all
Planning to buy CD player which also support mp3. Budget preferably <20K

Shortlisted below options:
NAD - 515BEE or 516 BEE
Marantz - CD5005
Cambridge audio - CD-10 or 351C

Want to know any tips or brandwise pros / cons.
One observation while going through specs:
SN ratio for Marantz <110 and Cambridge Audio <95. Would it make any difference in final sound quality? Sellers are suggesting Cambridge audio.

Thanks

Hi

Cambridge Audio is Audiophile designed....go for that...

Else..carry your favourite music and hear the same song from all 3 players and make a decision

You can also consider getting a decent DAC.
Use a decent DVD player like some pioneer or like, as transport and feed it through the DAC (using coaxial input or using a USB convertor if DAC accepts only USB input)

This way u can also play directly from laptop/PC too feeding to the DAC.

If you specifically looking for CD player then fine else this is one more option.

Just FYI :)
Best luck!

If you would be interested in a DVD player, I have a Marantz DV4001. It is surprisingly good for CD playback even on it's own.

If budget permits go for a used oppo 83se ,u will never look back.i tried most of the audiophile players and finally setteled with 83se,later i upgraded to oppo 105.

Unless you have a ton of CDs it doesn't make sense.

Seeing you also need MP3 support, I'd highly recommend a Raspberry Pi 3.

You can add either Chromecast Audio or HiFiBerry and have a complete solution for source/transport that plugs into any external DAC.

All 3 are good, but the major +point with Marantz is you will get good after sales service...

I wouldn't buy a cd player in this age and time. It is much better to rip your cd into a bit perfect copy on your laptop or PC. And then play it through a streamer with inbuilt dac like the Yamaha wxc50. This will be better sounding than any of the cd players mentioned above.

1. When you spin a cd in a cd player, the laser mechanism can't always read the data in real time if there are even the slightest of scratches. So this data is omitted in the playback, as the cd player has to play in real time. However, when you rip a cd, the laser mechanism goes over the same teach multiple times at its own pace till all the data is read. So this gives you a bit perfect copy.

2. The spinning cd mechanism introduces mechanical vibrations which carry down the chain. A lot of folks use vibration isolators and claim improvements. Why go to all that hassle, when we can play through a non spinning SSD drive.

3. When cd's were first introduced in the 1970's , cd players were simultaneously launched to play them. The tech is almost 40 years old now. There are cd players that cost a fortune because of their superior spinning mechanism, superior laser reading mechanism and error correction, and finally a superior dac. In today's world a 2000 rs cd or DVD drive can do the same. Then why pay for all that legacy tech. Just rip your cd, get a streamer with inbuilt dac + digital out like the Yamaha wxc50 and listen for now. In future when funds permit, add an external dac to improve your sound quality even further.

4. With a cd player you are restricted to playing one cd at a time. And need a dedicated remote control to skip tracks. If you want to change a album, it is a hassle to again get up. Once your cd's are ripped, the wxc-50 comes with the Yamaha music cast app, which will show up all your music collection on your phone or tablet. You can choose whatever you want to play without moving from your listening position.

5. There are lots of good streamers out there. Iam only mentioning the wxc-50 because it is closest to your budget at around 25k.
