Hi My friend has got a CLAWS turntable with ceramic cartridge. Want to change from Ceramic to Magnetic cartridge. Pl guide who can support this request

Can you post a picture of the cartridge currently on it, my guess is it is a ceramic cart from China. If it is, then you cannot install a magnetic cartridge on this one due to 3 reasons:
1) the tonearm will not be a balanced tonearm and tracking force is likely to be higher than 5-6g. Magnetics usually track in around the 1.5g to 3g range.
2) the phono preamp inside would be designed for ceramic carts, possibly it may not even have a phono preamp but probably a generic input with a balancing resistance shunt
3) If it is the Chinese type of ceramic cart (red type), then that is a clip-on type and both half-inch mount and p-mount magnetic carts are not likely to fit the existing headshell assembly (which in all likelihood is fixed)
