Hi FMs

I am starting this dedicated thread for country music. I hope this thread will serve all of us as a good source to explore good music.
This thread is all about music and not "sound".

So feel free to share your favorite songs/artists here and let the others discover what you have been enjoying. I am thinking of having a little format for each post. Lets try to keep this thread precise and informative at first glance. As a starting point, start with some artist info (just the name would also suffice) and list all your favorite tracks of the artist. You can add as much info as you want in your post about the artist/track etc.

Feel free to make this thread great.

Looking forward for good contribution.

Cheers :)
Vivek

John Denver is an old favourite for me. Particularly the wildlife concert album (had it on tape in the 1990s)

Among the new artists, Chris Stapleton (Starting Over album). Not quite country but midway

When I think about country music, the first name comes to my mind is James Travis Reeves a.ka. our beloved Jim Reeves. Ever since I heard his voice, I am in love with him lilterally :) . He is the one of the singers that always lifts my mood with his golden voice. My most favorite tracks of his

1. I love you becuase
2. Welcome to my world
3. Snow Flake
4. Have you ever been lonely
5. The Blizzard
6. Distant Drums

8. Not until the next time
9. Blue side of lonesome
10. Adios Amigo
11. Roses are red my love
12. Lonesome waltz
13. Waltzin on top of the world

For this post I will stop here but keep adding my favrorite tracks from other artists as well.

Hope you like these.

That’s a very nice list Nitin.
For me , country overlaps a lot with folk , old time blues , bluegrass... so I consider artists like Dusty Springfield , The Mamas and the Papas ,Joan Baez in this genre as well. Also , few film OSTs specially by the Coen Brothers like Inside Llewyn Davis , Ballad of Buster Scruggs feature wonderful country \ folk music.

No issues Vivek, your wish is my command. Even I can expand my selection from fellow FM's :)

Thanks Bloom@83. My main genre is country hence I enjoy it the most.
Thanks a lot for your list too. There are other singers like Allan Turner and Pat Boone too but not sure if they classify as country artists but they are great singers anyways.

Sir don't bother too much about genre. As long as it's good, let it flow. I myself don't know what classifies what. Could not think of an umbrella title for the thread so just share what you enjoy.

Other than country then:
Engelbert Humperdinck.
1) Pls release me.
2) Hush.
3) Last waltz.

Dolly Parton.
Jolene.

Glen Cambell.

Back in the day used to read a lot of Louis L’Amour ( especially the Sackett series ) , JT Edson , Oliver Strange , Zane Gray etc .
Listened to a lot of country music too. Merle Haggard was one special favorite. Emmylou Harris , Waylon Jennings , Kris Kristofferson , Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash , Dan Fogelberg , James Taylor .. there are so many of them .
Here is Willie Nelson with the country supergroup Higwaymen singing Kristofferson’s Help Me
Make It Through The Night
