I have now narrowed it down to the above 3 AVRs for my home theater upgradation. The speakers are all Paradigm. Fronts are Monitor 9s and Im currently running Denon X2200W. The difference between the A2070 and the 3070 is not a lot. Just the wattage. All other features are the same. Any advise here. How about the Denon 4400H?

When I was auditioning for a HT amp. I tried the marantz SR6011 and the previous gen yamaha aventage A1060.

The marantz and denon's are on the warmer side and hence sound musical. I was looking for a avr with a 50:50 split for music and movies. So I went for the marantz.

Today, I have a dedicated 2 channel setup for music. So if I was in the market again for avr for movies, it would certainly be a yamaha aventage series receiver. They sound big and boisterous. And bang on neutral for music. If I were to compare movie performance, the yamaha ' would spank all the marantz's and denon's in the world.

So choose what you want. The yamaha ' s are great for music too, but are neutral.

Marantz : laid back and warm
Yamaha : neutral
Pioneer : forward and bright.
Onkyo : sorry never heard one :)

Yamaha RX A 2070 is a 9.2 only capable AVR.. (5.1.4)

Yamaha RX A 3070 is a 9.2 AVR with 11.2 capability (pre-outs).. You can very well consider a 7.1.4 layout..

If you get to a flagship model, it will cost a bomb here..You haven't mentioned your budget..

While Denon x 4400 is a 9.2 AVR, capable of 11.2 (7.1.4), equivalent of Yamaha RX A 3070 capability, would cost less too..

Between the three models mentioned here, my vote is for Denon x 4400 (assuming it is least expensive Vs Aventage)..

Good advise. Currently Denon will be cheapest option as going for good prices.
X3400 @ 70k
X4400 @ 1.18L
X7200 @ 2.18L (Includes some freebies)

All above from Denon Sales Direct

For movies it's more involving to have Yamaha RX-A3070. Much better for movies than the Denon

I just came across a new challenge now. This is my current Avr x2200w. Im thinking if a denon x4400 will fit this space especially the depth. I guess the a3070 is anyways not possible as its too big. see pics20180710_192025.jpg20180710_192039.jpg20180710_192044.jpg

Denon AVR x4400h is one of the cheapest futureproof AVR with 9 channels amplification and 11.2 channels preout in the market. But if you are also interested in Yamaha 2070/3070 then you must try Anthem MRX 720. Even 7 channels amplification is better than 9 channels of others. Anthem and Paradigm synergy will put the performance to another level which is the added benefit. Anthem also have 11.2 preout so can be expanded to 11.2 in future with additional amplification.
