Hi Im planning to upgrade my existing x2200w which outputs 95w per channel (2ch)

the 2 upgrade choices are the 4500h and the 6500h which output 125w and 140w respectively. 4500 suits perfectly but im wondering if the upgrade would be substantial enough wattage wise or should I go with the 6500 but the cost goes almost double. Will there be a huge difference in the 125w vs the 140 w upgrade?

Power wise not a huge leap but the 6500 is a 11 channel avr. If you dont require 11 channels the 4500 makes more sense and also you can always add an AMP if you require more power and also the 4500 can process 11 channels with an help of a 2 ch amplifier

Get 4500 and add mutlichannel power amplifier 5 (or) 7 channels.. This should help offload the AVR power for the main channels + surrounds.. Rest can be powered by AVR.. Cost effective method..

For my brother, i picked Onkyo TX RZ 730, a 9.2 AVR with 11.2 channels pre-out capability.. I picked 11 channels of (used) external amplification { one 5 channel amplifier and 3 x stereo amplifier}.. Using the AVR as only Pre-amplifier.. He has a 7.2.4 set-up in a 250 Sqft room.. 22(L) x 11 (W) x 9 (H) room size..

If you need 11 channels, it is better to consider 4500H + 2 channel power amp to drive your towers.
You can use the 2 channel mode settings to select different crossover, Sub/No-Sub settings so that you can operate in 2.0 mode.

I agree with getting a multichannel power amp rather than getting the bigger AVR.

I dont need 11 channels. Also I guess the majority of the time I will be using 5.1.2. Not going to upgrade anytime soon to a 7.1.2

Ok then you can very well go for Marantz 6013 and save a lot of money or go for the Denon 4500.

Rephrase... I use a 5.1.2 as of now. Dunno if upgrading to 5.1.4 will make a big diff. Our main listening area is in the back of the room against a wall and almost directly under the ceiling atmos speakers

HEre are some pics of my setup so you can get an idea. The maximum I can go with an AVR without any modification and bitter looks from the wife is about 14 inches in depth to keep the AVR with sufficient ventilation in the back.

Here are some pics of the AV wall at my place

Done that for all models. I had shortlisted Yamaha A2080, Marantz 6013, Denon 4500 and 6500 (They are the ones that have the least depth of 13.3 inches)
