Hi All,

Finally I got time to start my DIY metal speaker stands project last week which I started planning from February this year.

Some pics to show the work in progress. Since the project needs expertise like Lathe work, wielding, spray paints. My job mostly is to plan and calculate the measurement etc. Most of things are done in different workshop so there will be lesser inter-work pics.

Comment and suggestions are welcome and will be much appreciated.

Interesting!
How thick are the plates and what are dimensions of the material?

The lower plates are 14"X14" and the top plates are 9.5"X11" as per my B&W 602-S2 base dimension.

The GI pipes are 24" long and 2.5' internal Diameter.

With all possibility the MS sheets are 2mm thick. I will confirm.

interesting how you managed lathe workshops for small orders..
good work..
the pipes were bought at plumber stores?
and where from the sheets procured?

Yup, I got the pipe from local Hardware store and the sheets from the Almira workshop (Almarir Karkhana theke)

It is not a problem for doing lathe work. They take any small order. I am in process to build isolation feet for CDP and TT. I will post photos of them soon.

In fact, I am planning to start a group buy as the nickeling of the isolation feet will be less if there is a bulk order.

Here are some updated pics of the work in progress ... Please comment and suggest your thoughts.

I will do that ... a heads up below-
1. 14X14 MS sheet - Rs. 250 each. Cost of 4 pieces = Rs. 1000
2. 2.5mm GI pipe - Rs.90/ft. Cost of 8ft = Rs. 720
3. nut, screws etc = Rs. 150

Till now lathe work charge = Rs. 560
----------------------------------------------------------------
Rs. 2430 till now

congrats first... :)
some questions.1
wont your florr be damaged by the spikes...any plan to add small plates in between

2.is it spray painted from workshop..or self done..

Thanks Prosenjit!
Nope, a little dragging here and there won't do much damage to the floor. Atleast with THIS spikes on MY floor.
Yes, it is powder coated paint done from workshop itself.

how about a faux-wood or black-granite look for the bottom part of the stand?
i mean something like this-pipe stands

or this-pipe stand 2

It would give a more err...premium look,no?that way you can also hide the feet from view
