Hi
I've contemplated with the idea of making power cords for my amp and preamp... have tried a few things earlier in DIY power cables:
I of course started out with the standard cables.

But, I got interested after reading a lot about people’s experience about improvements from high end power-cables.
One significant upgrade that we can address in an attempt to improve audio quality is to replace the OEM AC power cord.

Building the IEC Power Cord:
Joshua's recommendation 2.5mm^3 (https://www.hifivision.com/threads/power-cables.73911/post-815164) shielded cable from the local DIY store and entry quality wall and IEC plugs (to begin with i bought two pairs), tech-flex expandable nylon sleeve, suitable heat shrink tube.

The point for me is that playing around with different options and listening for differences is part of the fun and educates my ears in what to listen for and expect.

Things to try in the future:
- Using different IEC and power connectors. I found a source for wall-sockets. My main purpose here is to get better connections.

This is how the finished cable looks:

Neat work. Where did you sourced 'tech-flex expandable nylon sleeve'? Is it available as loose supply say 5 or 10 meters?

Finished the other cable also today.

The OD of the cable is 13mm

Along with the heat-shrink tube 15mm:

The down side with the connectors is... the rubber grommet/washer is not able to accommodate the cable diam, and is being pushed out from the slot. Not of concern...

Looks great. Waiting for your feedback if it makes any difference in the sound.

What's the confusion...???
The link Joshua posted takes you right to the product page.
I am sorry for the confusion, he mentioned that he bought cable from LOCAL diy store, so assumed it is different, & the link actually is reference for recommendation of using 2.5mm^3 cable.

Also improvement over stock power cable is appreciated.

Wanted to update everyone on my DIY power cable journey.

I had an extensive listening, testing the new power cords... actually i have three components, but only two new cables, so used this cable i already had on the CD player.

Believe it or not, sound stage and dynamics are the first victims of a lessor power cord...
I have found that source components show a greater improvement, I suspect because their power supplies are not as "able" as those generally found in power amps.

The improvement in sound quality, and especially quietness and impact were unreal.
Dynamic performance, clarity and imaging are probably the most noticeable improvements across all components.
I have yet to receive the wall receptacles i ordered.

Try the amplifier cord to be the first in queue.. In your mains line.

Is the other end of the CD power cord.. a C7 figure 8 connector ?
