Hi,
I am from Kolkata. I have a Yamaha RX-V481, along with yamaha ns-p20 speakers set. I prefer listening music than movies. I generally listen Folk Rock and Instrumental. So mid and high is very important.
So can you guys suggest me a decent floor standing speakers under 25k?
There are two speakers I have in my mind, i.e
1. YAMAHA NS-F71

2. TAGA HARMONY TAV 806F

I have heard the Taga, they are very nice. Though I cannot comment on the Yamaha, I have seen lot of reviews saying that they are quite bright and since you have a Yamaha 481 they may sound more bright together. You can get the Taga from the hifimart itself.

There are two very good speakers within your range are Onkyo SKF 4800 and Pioneer FS52. I have audition both and definitely will not disappoint you... Audition and decide

I second the Pioneer, most entry level floor standers are party boxes more than an audiophile item.

I checked it online, they are beyond my budget. My max budget is 25000.
I recently shift to kolkata and don't know where to find those speaker.
I know only two shops here 1. auditro 2. pro audio. They stock neither yamaha nor taga harmony even onkyo. pioneer. So I can't audition any of these speakers:(
My only option is online and your suggestions.

It is difficult to get pioneer but check with Onkyo dealer, you may get SKF 4800 else go for pre owned route. You will get very good FS. Keep eye on our classified section else float tread for FS in wanted section. Audition different speakers to know your liking...

Hi,

You need to audition or read reviews or see some Youtube videos to get a fair idea of what you need.

Here are some links......Jamos, Bostons, Polks, would blend well with Yamaha........

https://www.audioshop.in/collections/speakers/?orderby=price

Possibly it may make sense for you to invest in Bookshelf speakers which can be placed on pedestal stands or wall mounted...check those options too as i have a feeling you may be experience the lack of mid bass etc......if it is punch you are missing then you may need to focus on the sub....

as per specs...

Review and decide accordingly.......

Recently I bought a pair of Pioneer FS52 floor standers from htstore.in, if you can extend your budget by another 5K they are worth to go for. Am impressed with their performance with my Denon 720 amp. I also faced the same problem in auditioning as none of the dealers in my place are not stocking AJ-FS52 so thoroughly gone through various reviews and test reports to close the deal and now I am happy to say that am not mistaken in my decision.

Here's my observations

Pros:
1. They work well for a wide variety of music genres, mids and highs are crystal clear where the vocals and most of the instruments are mostly embedded.
2. The towers are well made and in fact are surprisingly heavy for a MDF constructed unit. They are fairly large, but seem to blend in well in our living room making them almost unobtrusive if it weren't for the beautiful music coming from them.

Cons:
1. Back firing ports will consume more space than the front firing port ones as we need to keep them 1 feet away from the wall to get the max out of it.
2. Smaller drivers : 3 X 5.25" woofers are okay for average volume (9 O clock upwards) but low volume levels, you will think of a subwoofer upgrade if you are a club music fan.

So here's my two cents:
If you are a bass lover, you need an active sub woofer to compensate the driver size issues and if you are a sedate listener, you are on the right track for the money spent.

Now. its your call, decide where you belong to and Good luck

Check for Yamaha NS8390. What you get:
1. price 19K at amazon.
2. 3 Way with 8"woofer
3. What's HiFi good rating (i think 5 star if i remember correctly)
What Hifi is heavily biased on reviews. They write positive only things about stuff which are mostly UK made. At the price mentioned a decent quality bookshelf will be in favour of audiophilia. the towers build at that price will be compromised.

I dont know if its good, but its discounted. Mission Vx4

" 3 X 5.25" woofers are okay for average volume (9 O clock upwards) but low volume levels " There will be bass at lower volumes with a more powerful amp in your case. :)

As you said, I auditioned some of their(profx shop) bookshelf speakers(polk audio,KEF). They sound awesome, really like your idea. But the only problem is I have to connect a sub-woofer. Coz Bookshelf speakers have no bass driver, only mid and tweeter and I don't want to add a sub for music listening.
So Floor standing speakers are the only option to me.:(
