Requirements for trading in the For Sale by Owners Thread.

  • You have read and accepted the Classifieds Conditions, Rules & Guidelines.

  • Only individual owners can post a "For Sale" ad here. Commercial members and/or dealers will have to post in the "For Sale By Dealers" section.

  • Your registration should be at least 31 days old and you should have made a minimum of 31 posts.

  • You must have the product you are selling in possession at the time of sale.

  • You must provide 2 clearly visible pictures of the product along with your HiFiVision.com username and date written by hand on a piece of paper next to the product. Try to provide picture of bundled accessories if any. If you do not have pictures yet, please do not start a thread till you have them as it will be deleted.

  • No proxy sales on behalf of others or banned members.

  • Please make sure to select the "For Sale" prefix while starting a new thread.

  • Posts that bring a thread to the top of the New Posts list but add no content to the thread (bumps) are not permitted. This applies not only to posts that say "bump" but to those with the intent to bump, e.g. posts saying "anyone?" or the equivalent

  • Quoting Price, age, condition, ownership history and complete description of the item being sold is mandatory.

  • Selling of any digital audio, video or software related media is strictly prohibited.

  • Posting of your email and/or telephone number is not permitted. All initial communication will have to be carried out by PM.

  • Bidding or auction is not allowed.

  • Any monetary transactions between buyer and seller are purely and entirely between the two and www.hifivision.com does not guarantee the transaction between the two parties, nor is involved in facilitating the transaction, nor does it charges a percentage or commission on the transaction, nor does it hold the payment in escrow. Hence it is not responsible in any way for the satisfactory exchange of goods and money between seller and buyer and is not responsible for mediating disputes between buyer and seller. Please do not start a thread complaining about a trade that has gone bad as it will be deleted. The sale facility must be viewed by members purely as a convenience service provided by www.hifivision.com, and like all commercial transactions, caveat emptor applies.

  • www.HiFiVision.com does not provide any express warranty on the items sold nor does it claim responsibility for trades conducted on the market. Both parties involved in a trade should ensure trade does not go bad.

  • It is also your responsibility to read the rules and guidelines and fully understand them before posting in the HiFiVision.com classifieds. Any member found violating any of the above rules and/or guidelines will be banned from HiFiVision.com and no conversation or correspondence will be entered into by the Moderators or Admin.

  • The Classifieds section is intended for sales alone and not Product discussion which is to be carried out in the other forums.

Please note that ads that do not satisfy the above requirements with will automatically be deleted.

Thanks SuperM for getting this done. Its really helpful for our members and backs the belief we are always a Democratic forum.

@All: This will be moderated and posts that dont stick to the rules will be deleted. So if you post something, dont expect it to feature instantly. It will be published once its approved by Moderators.

In spite of multiple posts and replies, people refuse to follow rules. The most common issues why your post does not appear in For Sale:

1. You don't have enough post to post in For Sale
2. You have not posted pictures of your product
3. You posted pictures of your product without "Hifivision" handle "Handwritten and displayed"
4. You posted pictured with your handle digitally entered.

We will delete all post which does not have a written HFV handle in the picture, digital watermarks are not allowed

Inspite of multiple requests, some people just don't want to follow it. So have increased the size of this and will henceforth

Will not reply for any PMs asking why my post is not appearing in For Sale. If you follow rules it will appear

hi Mods

We can have a single post (sticky preferable) that lists out a quick buyer/seller rating. It can be as simple as a list of names in alpha order with 2 nos. next to each one rep the sum total of their positive and negative ratings.

The scale would be +1 for positive, 0 for neutral and -1 for negative. This will give a sense of comfort when dealing with individuals over a period of time.

Each transactoin will generate atmost 2 posts to the thread indicating the feedback. If needbe, I can maintain it to start with and see if additional help is required if it takes off like crazy.

Thoughts?

Thx

Mods, we see some sale threads leading to some unpleasant exchanges between the seller and forum members. We also see sellers claiming the items are sold to a forum member without disclosing the names.

To add to the credibility of the sellers who put up their items for sale frequently, why not consider adding a reputation tag for the seller after each satisfactory sale based on feedback from the buyer and also making it mandatory for the seller to disclose to whom the item was sold .

This would help prospective buyers and the sellers also.

I am posting it here instead of the sale section so as not to hijack the sale threads.

The basic objective of HFV is for people to discuss AV related topics. Reputation tags are motivators used by sites like ebay where sales are the primary tasks. Here we expect people who have been members for some time, to have a forum to sell their own personal items. We don't expect the same member to sell again and again. So a reputation tag here will lead to unscrupulous sellers becoming members and selling stuff on a regular basis. We do not want that do we?

Cheers
