From SD to HD Airtel or Anyother viable options?

Hi All,
Recently i purchased a FUll HD TV, so till now i'm watching TV through the Airtel DTH SD connection. I'm looking forward to move to HD from SD. So i need help from you guys.
I'm looking out for the most economical options.
I'm Planning to get the HD sports channels only.
Question: while migrating to HD from SD do they change the receiver also OR only the Set top box is changed?

I have the following options.

1. Upgrade - I can use the upgrade option Airtel is providing by paying Rs 1499
2. New Connection of Airtel HD - Can get a new Connection from Airtel for 1950 & sell off my SD box to someone else for a price
3. New any other DTH connection - get a Other DTH connection

Please advice

Airtel HD is good...upgrade your set-top box for HD(only settop box will change) and just take sports hd pack for 99rs per month

otherwise you can keep the SD box for other room and take a new connection

I Have recently upgraded to Airtel DTH plus. Its good with recording option. For recording you need to pay monthly RS 30

During Rainy season it is not an issue at all. I am using it from 2 years HDR

Both Videocon D2H and TataSky are good for HD, but it will be advisable for you to upgrade your ADTV instead of switching.

Doesn't mean to hijack the thread, but since its relevant wanted to ask here....does Airtel HD still have the sound issues with HD channels like loss of fidelity due to dynamic range compression?

since you already have an Airtel SD box, it will be easier to upgrade to HD. However, Tata Sky has the best HD signal, hence looks the best.

Thanks guys for your inputs. i have upgraded to Airtel HD box by paying Rs 1499. 18 HD channels are free for 2 months after that ihad to pay Rs 175 for these HD channels

I had been using Airtel SD that came with my Samsung LCD TV for last 4 years (its only HD Ready not Full HD). Recently I upgraded to Airtel HD after comparing all other DTH's HD packages. Airtel DTH HD packages are better suited to my needs hence went for it. There was an offer for 1200 for the upgrade and they just swapped the set top box with an HD one.

Overall happy with this one.
