It's a marketing opportunity !
Guys will prop up glass tubes with reddish/orange LED's at the base to 'simulate a tube'. Tube look, no heat and low power consumption of the dummy. The chip on board will do the real job .
Maybe the chip will be inside the tube and have a similar pin out as real tubes !
Will people buy it ? Just look at the crap sold on the Net......sure ,some people will buy it , at least because it 'will be cute' !
