How to make a digital chess clock

I want to make a digital chess clock as a project. Please help me.

By chess clock, I assume that you mean the dual button stop clock that chess players use during a match - each player presses his button after the move is complete and from that instant the other player stop-clock starts. When I was doing Electronics in my college post-graduation days, we had made a count-down timer using IC555 and digital IC's, electronic LED display, etc. Can't exactly remember - but 7401, 7410, or something like that - basically OR gates, AND gates, NAND gates, etc.
