I have these Torroidal transformers. Can you suggest a suitable amplifier to build these as the power supply?

Hi,
These were bought several years ago for a different project which never happened. I have got 5 of these and hoping to make some use of atleast 2 to build a sweet sounding amplifier. They are 15V / 1 AMP on the secondary, so not sure what options I have. Willing to go for separate power supplies for separate channels.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Since current capacity is only 1A
a. You can build amps based on dual supply TDA 2050 OR LM1875 kits . You can use these to build monoblocs 15V X 2 (15-0-15 AC) trannys output in series per channel . Total 4 trannys for stereo
or
b. 0-15 trannys for single supply TDA 2030 TDA 2050 OR LM1875 kits per channel Total 2 trannys for stereo

It would have been simpler If you had single CT 15-0-15 AC 5Amp tranny. Then I would have recommended LM3886 OR TDA 7294 Kits
Beware- lots of fake kits ICs on sale

When you connect transformers in series, please take care that the windings are in phase otherwise the voltages will cancel out each other

Can this be put to use?

Perfect! Now use only 2 trannys , input 230V in parallel and output in series "in phase" or you can just rectify and filter and then join them in series to supply +/- and 0V to amplifier. Be cautious about polarity and DC at output of amplifiers. Don't plugin your B & W Nautilus;-) immediately. Use some crappy speakers for testing, preferably with some series 47 or 100R power resistor. Incase if you don't have any speakers to test use bike incandescent indicator bulb as a dummy load . Use or buy any elcheapo multimeter. For using 4 trannys, you will have to cut traces, so leave that part for future upgraded. Remrmber- Measure twice and cut once.
