Hi Guys,

Looking for a Screen. Expected to serve as:

1. Laptop display extension - For at least a year or so.

Primary use: video streaming/surfing/photo editing(?)
secondary use: Standalone (occasional) TV - to play movies/TV-series off HDDs.
We do not intend to use it connected to DTH/cable though.

2. Bedroom TV(?) + occasional extra screen to work with.
(this would be after we shift into our home - around early 2015)

This will help me push actual "full blown" TV purchase until I save up enough!
I have depleted funds now - after booking a flat :(

Suggestions welcome.

Any feedback on this Micromax screen:
Link: Micromax TV (32")

It's only - 1366x768 :(
But costs like 18~ 20K!
Has built in speakers (decent!)
Has all standard connections VGA/HDMI/AV in/out/USB.
Too much jargon on their site.IPS panel/zero black dots/blah blah..

Does that translate to good/ok/Nice picture quality?
I am only going ahead with assumption:
LED/LCD market has evolved well & low cost options should be at least at par with 5~6/10 in picture quality.

** I saw one video review online (there aren't many) - it said, the TV lacks "upscaling" - so SD content / lower than native resolution content is likely to be pixelated & have not-good reproduction.

Thanks,

Ace.

Hi

Today's TVs have a shorter lifespan (3-9 years)...typically after one or two years consumers face issues with the TV panels etc.....warranty plays a very important role.

Toshiba and Sharp offer 3 years warranty and good value for money spent....go to an electronics store and do a side by side comparision and read reviews on the internet...there are some threads / posts on Sony and Samsung on HFV.

Bottom line is decide on the size, decide on what connectivity / features you want and accordingly shortlist a few models based on what appeals to you in performance / budget and then choose the appropriate one ...make sure you read consumer reviews and complaints.....no point putting in money for something that would fail later...

NOOO.. Micromax tv's are crap! Spend a bit more n get Toshiba/Philips/Sharp.

Thanks for the feedback.
Cr*p meaning - low on PQ or reliability or ??
A little more detail would help.

Any particular model recommendation from Toshiba/Sharp would be great!
Considering my requirements - that is..

Cheers,

Ace.

Toshiba makes some solid Tvs. I am using my Toshiba 32 inch for almost 4 years. Its working stunning. Go for Toshiba.:eek:hyeah:

+1 to Toshiba, they are absolute VFM and also comes with 3 year warranty. Their cricket series looks good. I am using a 3.5 year old Regza 32" which recently got demoted to my bedroom TV when a 40" Samsung took its place :) It never gave any headache, even the remote batteries are still the same ;)
