It Seems that Denafrips has started a Sister Brand or at-least has OEM agreements with Musician-Audio Company to manufacture Musician-Audio Pegasus DAC's in Denafrips Factory. When reviewers enquired about the source and whereabouts of the Musician-Audio Company, it is understood it has strong connection with Denafrips. When reviewers has asked the same with Denafrips Owner, he gave only evasive, vague replies and eventually that they have made some OEM agreements with other companies with non-disclosure agreements.

Irrespective of all these speculations, Musician Audio Pegasus DAC costing $1100 has been reviewed to be as good as Denafrips Venus DAC costing $2900.

This concept of a single factory churning out stuff for different brands is quite common in China. Just the packaging and layout of the user interface changes rest they are pretty much the the same inside

A friend in Toronto picked up the Pegasus and his impression is that it's voiced very differently from the Ares II - detail retrieval isn't as rigorous as the Denafrips DAC, background is darker, mid-range is livelier. I recently bought a Terminator, which is a fantastic DAC, but a little too much for my small listening space. I'm considering selling it and going back to the Chord Qutest paired with the MScaler.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
