Hi guys,

My initial requirement was to get a better sound than what my stupid 55" tv does. I thought of getting a soundbar and tested out a few of them and from there got a few demos of onkyo and thought going for the AVR and speakers.
My use is to watch smart tv(youtube + dvd quality video) + HD DTH. The TV is in living space of 20x16.

Option 1:
I am doing it on an incremental basis. Dono where I am going end in but for starters I need to get a AVR and a center speaker alone. I saw good reviews on taga-harmony-platinum-c-100-center-speaker, so thought of going with it first.

1. If so what AVR should I?
2. Any cheaper alternative for the taga c-100-center-speaker ?

Option 2:
Get the 5.0 and an AVR

Here to please suggest an affordable AVR suitable for the 5.0.

I am not a big fan of thumping bass sound would rather love the clarity of the sound.

Please bear with my noobness on the subject. I

Why an avr and only center? That would mean Mono sound. An avr with front two main speakers should be your first step. A sub along with it, would give you a nice 2.1 setup. A sub is not just for thumping bass. It is there primarily to complete the frequency range.

At a later stage you can add rear surrounds and a center to compete your 5.1 setup.
