Hi All,

This is my first post here and in anticipation of useful advice and opinions!

I am from Delhi and a novice when it comes to AV receivers and speakers however I have done some googling hence I have gotten some idea about how it all works! I am keen to have a 5.1 HT system in my house with a good AV receiver. But, Since I am very tight on budget I would like to start with 2.1 system comprising of good bookshelf speakers and SW for Yamaha RX V573/473 which I have shortlisted. I would expand it to 7.1/5.1 later when my pocket allows for it.

I am a music buff more than movies:

  • Music - 80% - Rock/Soft Rock/Sufi
  • Movies - 20% (DVD/Tatasky HD)

For speakers, I have zeroed down on following (basis only specs as of now):
Budget is 10-15 K

Room size 20 x 15 or something...not sure..,Its more rectangular.

  1. Boston Acoustics Classic CS26
  2. Polk Audio TSi200
  3. Whaferdale Diamond 10.1

For SW: (Budgets around 15K)

  1. Polk PSW 110
  2. Sonodyne Roarr 210

Pls let me know which one one goes best with Yamaha receiver I have picked.

I would also like to know where I can buy in Delhi with good deals. I have read on posts here that readers have gotten good deals (10-20% discount on MRP). Basically where can i bargain good. (No grey market stuff).

Thanks in advance!
Raj

if youre more into music then why dont you go for a simple stereo set up. much better sound quality for a given budget

Hi AFJ,

Yeah I am into music, but I would like to eventually have a HTS as I move along. And its going to be for a long time. As my sons grow up they would also like to watch movies and get their hands on PS3/4.....so I want one stop solution.

Thanks,
Raj
