Panasonic 2010 Plasma still lose black level.

2010 Panasonic plasma TVs: still lose black levels, but should remain 'blacker' than competition | Crave - CNET

Quote=The bottom line
Despite the near doubling of MLL on the VT25 and G20 we've measured so far, both still exhibit some of the best overall black level performance available on the market today. In order of "blackest" initial black, the other 2010 plasmas in our lab at press time include the Samsung PN50C7000 (0.017 MLL), Samsung PN50C8000 (0.019), and LG PX950 (0.030). All of these numbers are higher (worse) than our estimated "final" MLL of either Panasonic panel.
As a result we're not going to reduce the performance scores on the reviews of either 2010 Panasonic plasma TV at the moment. Both still deliver superb overall picture quality, and the VT25, even after the MLL increase, is still the best-performing TV of 2010 in our opinion. All of the comparisons in the Samsung PN50C8000 review, which includes most of the recent high-end TVs in our lab, were made after the VT25's MLL increase (see Performance for details).

IMHO once you have bought the panel, in your day to day viewing you will never be able to notice the gradual reduction in black level.....unless you were to check with the appropriate device..... The differences shall not be significantly noticable to the average naked eye unless once goes searching for it..

Isnt it good enought that they remain blacker than the competition.

The fact that it is decreasing over time rather than being constant is a big concern.

For ~100 days usage, the black level degradation seem to have 'doubled' the MLL.. Factor in another 2-3 years and you could be looking into a lemon. Only time will tell.

A known devil (samsung) is better than an unknown angel? - or is it? Decision is yours.

I agree about that.Infact once you get the tv to your house irrespective of brand and tech you aren't going to do a A & B comparison .

But in away its cheating the customer.Since the main reason why people buy panasonic is because of the black levels .other plasma makers like Samsung and LG don't have that issue and are cheaper.Samsung has a good image processing as well.

I agree mate hence one should think twice and make a well informed decision regarding the purchase being made.....
