forget UT30...........go for ST30.............no comparison!!! UT is an entry level plasma while ST is higher up with neo pdp panel and infinite black pro. If you have the budget stick with ST30. all the best!!!

Today Got the following prices from Panny Brandshop baner.... seems no changes on pricing

1) 42ST30--- 66K
2) 42UT30-- 61K
3) 42X50-- 42.5K
4) 42XT50--50K

No 50" panels are in stock at the shop

You have seen my post on getting the 50XT50 for 50K..so rule 42XT50 out.

Agreed, but all Pune shops seems quite reluctant on reducing the prices. forget @ free stuff offers... they have some nice stories on Octroi and rupee value wrt uncle sam's currancy.

If you want X or U series, then go with X/XT50 or UT50. Both are very good entry level plasma's and are much better then the 30 series.

I am also from Pune , looking for a 42 incher panny plasma.
I had inquired the baner brand shop two weeks back and they gave me the below rates.
42st30d - 73k with 2 glasses
42u30d - 64K with 2 glasses
42x50 - 48 K

did not bargain though.

and when I called mahavir electronics, kothrud, they straight away gave me rate of 55K for 42ut30d+2 glasses.

Now i am confused between 42XT50 or 42UT50. my budget is 50-55K.

Go to Rajesh Trading Company, Daruwala Pool. He will give better prices. I just purchased 50ST50 on 22/07. The Baner Rd. shop was not ready to budge below 110k. Rajesh TC gave me a final quote of 105k. I felt that it was still 5k high. There is a free HT also.

ST30, UT30, etc. are 2011 models. Go for the 50 series. They are 2012 models and have nice improvements on PQ and other features. But it will be possible to get better discounts on 30 series.

Had I known you guys, we could have hone together and bargained a further discount. But I suggest that you go together and negotiate hard. Panasonic prices never come down, even during Diwali. Trust me. I was hunting/checking for 2 years.

All dealers are offering good discounts to clear the 2011 stock.

UT50 is better in terms of resolution and few things here are there. Unless you are going to watch true HD/1080p via blu-ray, UT50 will not lift itself above XT50. If you are watching DTH/Cable only, save bucks and go with XT50.

You may have to dig deeper into your pocket for UT50. And in Pune, the deliveries are not yet guaranteed on this model.

If you are going for ST then ST30 is ok, but if you are looking at U or X, the please do not go for the older 2011 models. The new models are X50, XT50 and U50..........these are the new entry level models from the 2012 line up.
Depending on budget both XT50 (HD ready) and UT50 (Full HD) are great tv's. Also remember for normal SD content a HD ready panel (720p) will look better than a Full HD panel. Full HD (1080p) only makes sense for watching 1080p content at a really close distance, for all other purposes HD ready will suffice.

+1 to this. 2012 range is far better than 2011... go for 50 series.

Panasonic 42" prices in Pune:

TH-P42UT50D: MRP = 75,900, Offer: 65,500 + HT
TH-P42ST30D: MRP = 82,900, Offer: 63,000
TH-P42ST50D: MRP = 95,900, Offer: 85,000 + HT

The TH-P42ST30D is a steal at 63K. My suggestion: go get them, tiger. The guy said that for a slight more price, he will give HT from his own stock.

I was told that 50ST30 was sold at 65-70K till somedays back when there was stock available...

Are these prices still negotiable?
Is anyone aware of the model no. Of the ht system being offered with the television? And is that an all India offer?

i am planning to visit rajesh tc this weekend to check the models and price.
I was almost set on xt50 with free ht , but now seeing tht the st30d is available at 63k i am again confused ;-)

Hi..
I been to Rajesh in pune today...liked ST50 and ST30 both....both r equally good..ET50D looks very bright, more than required i guess....but based on my budget i guess I need to settle with St30..he is ready for 70k..what is the best price I shud bargain ? I hv got another offer of 68K ( still not negotiated with him )...
But frankly not happy with 3D from Panny...3d is much better in LG and Sony (HX850). Panny 3d looks pop-in instead of pop-out...not sure if that was some settings...
the only diff i see between st30 and st50 is the "Sub-field Drive". not sure how to test this parameter..50 has 2500hz while 30 has 600hz. anyone has any observation between the 2 models based on these 2 values and have measured the difference so far ?

let me know...thx

Is that 42ST30? Please look at my earlier post. He was ready for 63K. Do not buy any TV for 3D feature. If 3D is important, you should check out the passive 3D which may appeal better inspite of the half-FHD frame to each eye.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
