Hello guys, I am new here. Recently I purchased SONY CX 420 lcd tv. Also I purchased Buffalo's external hard disk of 500 gb. My problem is that whenever I connect this hard disk, I get a message on my screen that 'this device is not recognised'. Someone told me that I need to make FAT32 partition. I did the same as well but of no use:mad:. Can anyone help me about the right way?

Looks like a USB driver problem in the TV. Try and locate a firmware upgrade for the TV and read the release notes. Else check with tech support about compatibility of drives.

Edit: 500gb looks way too much for FAT32 to handle. Try and partition the drive into multiple fat32s...

It seems like a problem with partition size. Create small partitions and try again. I read somewhere that Windows XP can support only upto 32GB FAT32 partitions. While this has got nothing to do with a TV, still you can try creating a small partition and check.

Your tv like other budget models also supports NTFS partition.
Its only the CX520 and EX series and upwards that doesn't support NTFS
