Please suggest regarding Quad 405 amp modifications

Hello DIY Friends,

I am planning to "upgrade" my Quad 405 power amp. I am planning a full re-cap as part of this exercise.

Suggestions I need are:
1. Choice of Caps for the upgrade.
2. Addition of speaker protection boards. The Mk II has them. Is it really beneficial adding them? Are there any pitfalls in this addition?
