Hi All,

I have an Onkyo 606 AVR and now have a Optoma hd65 projector ..

Unable to get sound through my AVR ( speakers ) . I have connected it this way

1) DVD Composite video out to Projector
2 ) DVD Digital out to AVR digital IN ( 2) and assigned Digital In (2 ) to VCR

My idea is to set the AVR to VCR mode so that i get the digital sound output
and play the movie through projector using the composite video

IT doesnt work ..just get the Video ..No sound ..Any flaw in my connections

Please suggest

Hi,

Composite video or component video? May I know which digital option, optical or coaxial? Did you try other audio options, for e.g., if you are using a optical, then coaxial or RCA stereo?

Cheers!

It is component video .. Red , blue , green from DVD player to projector IN .
digital out of dvd to digital in of AVR

Since i use one digital IN of AVR to connect another dvd player which i use for watching movies on tv , i am using another digital IN for this and have assigned the VCR option to it ..

So now i want to have the AVR in VCR mode ( for getting the sound ) and use the direct output from dvd to projector

Regarding other outputs , like connecting to stereo also do not work

yes i did ..no luck ..

Does it have anything to do with - the receiver is expecting both audio and video signals to go through it ? In this case i am only sending the audio signal , as video is directly connected from the dvd to the projector

Though you connection methodology is strange, there is nothing wrong with it.

With these connections, when you switch the AVR, do you choose 'VCR' as your input source in the AVR? If it is locked to some other source (such as DVD) you will hear nothing.

Cheers
