Hi,

I have a query regarding Sony BDP-S370 and Denon DHT-390. AS Sony BDP has internal decoding of HD audio codecs and DHT-390 don't support HD audio codecs so if a connect Sony BDP to DHT-390 by HDMI then will I be able to enjoy HD audio or do I need to get the seprate AVR like DENON 1610 to play HD audio.

Thanks
Gaurav

Yes, in theory, it should be possible to send the decoded LPCM multi-channel signals from the S-370 to your DENON receiver, but before buying anything, check to see that it actually does it's job. Some of the older HDMI receivers could not process audio and some could only process 2 channel sound...

This will not work..
Denon 390 does not decode audio on HDMI..
If S-370 can down-mix HD audio to DTS/Dolby then it might work with digital coaxial/optical link.. You will not enjoy real HD audio anyway..
Better look for Denon 1610 AVR+speakers.. or Onkyo 3300 HtiB..
