Hi.
I have a home theater system with denon 1909 receiver, wharfedale diamond series front, center and surround speakers and ground firing wharfedale PC12 subwoofer.
However, the DVD player is from philips. This Philips DVD player gives optical out for audio and S-video for video.
I have used proper OFC cables interconnecting receiver to speakers.
However, I have noticed the sound quality to be different to that in showroom.

Does the DVD player make a difference for audio, even if it gives optical out..? If yes...can some one suggest a good DVD player..?

Also, I have a carpet between speakers, subwoofer and viewing space.
Will the carpet degrade the woofer effect..?
Is it recommended to have carpet at all for a ground firing sub..?

If the DVDp sounded much better in the showroom than your home, first check the settings.

On this forum (and elsewhere), the oppo has good reviews.

Carpet under sub-woofer (downfiring) is not recommended afaik.

Cheers.
