Hello,
I have spent tons of hours and days trying to figure this out so any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Samsung HT-C6530 Home Theater System that is able to play 720p MKV files that are encoded with the DTS Audio codec on a DVD disk, but it is not able to play 1080p MKV files that are encoded with the DTS Audio codec on a Bluray disk as the audio stutters and then it is mute.

I tried it on a LG Bluray player and it can't play it either.

Now I'm assuming that the players can't decode the DTS so my only option is to encode it with lets say AC3 and it will work.

I don't understand how it can play the 720p and not 1080p. Is it because there is too much data to process?

Any help or explanation would be greatly appreciated as I can't figure this mystery out.
The Bluray players advertise that they can decode DTS.

Thank you for reading and hopefully you can assist as I'm backing up my movie collection and before it grows I'd like to know what are my options.

Take care
Mark

This is the main disadvantage of Sony Samsung Philips HTiB. Their AMPs come with limited codec decoding support, so if you download or rip a Bluray and play it on the player via USB or by burning on disk, if the codec is unsupported it won't be played. Nothing wrong with the machine but its the codec combinations which are not being decoded by the player. Play the same file on PC and it will work.

Post the mediainfo details of your mkv file.

The DTS audio you are trying to play is lossless DTS-HD MA codec which is not fully decoded by your player.
Could you please tell me what is the error message you are getting-it's not playing the file at all/audio stutters/No audio only video..I will let you know how to proceed further.

The audio will play choppy or mute itself out but the video will play. Thank you for helping.

Download tsmuxer from here tsMuxeR 1.10.6 - VideoHelp.com Downloads
open tsmuxergui.exe-->add the file-->deselect video stream(h264),select audio stream only-->check option Downconvert DTS-HD to DTS-->check output option as Demux-->start muxing-->you will have a .dts file in the folder.
Download mkvmerge gui version 5.7.0 from here-
Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/qsso53276fpb087/mkvtoolnix-unicode-5.7.0-setup.exe
Install it-->Open-->Go to File-->options-->mmg-->verify whether Disable header compression removal option is checked.
If not check it and restart mkvmerge again.
Now add the mkv file, deselect the DTS audio from there-->add .dts file you extracted-->mux the mkv file-->now try to play it.
let me know if you have any issue.
