scams in the name of audio quality

"The success of the audiophile wire industry is based entirely on the utter ignorance of the market"

This one phrase summaries the full article.

But articles and debates will go on and on in forums and everywhere.
It is finally upto the individual to decide upon it.

Though science and technology does explain a lot of things, it is hard to argue when a person says he hears a difference and invests in an expensive cable.

Like the mystery of life, music too is not just about science, but also philosophy, and each has his own.

I think cables are designed to purposefully sound different (not 'better' which is subjective) and these companies take advantage of the fact that different metals and alloys do sound different when used as cables. There are no high end cables just different sounding cables, so yes high end cables is a fraud.

I just came across these links which dispels lot of myths in the audio world - Does this confirm your suspicisions? It does cleared lot of grey area for me - i used to wonder what is special about the elite stuff.. Now i know :)

Congratulations ! ..so one big headache removed in your audiophile journey ;)

Cables are not just about the conductors but also about their geometry as well as dielectrics, but thinking of these before getting the right components, acoustics, configuration and room right does not even make any sense.

The audiophile industry is the same as the automobile , Wine, photography, and even cycling industry..once you start to specialise the 1% perceived difference becomes a jaw dropping revelation :)
eg in Wines

Hello,
You are the BOSS. Lol decide what is best for your ears, of what you hear. At times it is so hard to differentiate the Best from the Worst & Worst from the Best. Just be aware. The most expensive cable could be the Best or an average.

Regards

Vinyl will sound much more relaxing.
Recordings on vinyl are different from digital recordings.
Present age digital recordings are meant to be played on mobile phones etc. They need to play loud. Such recordings won't sound that good from a good quality audio setup.

There are few other reasons why vinyl sounds better.

I don't use vinyl.. Can't afford.

Many might not like the exact sound of how the musicians make the songs.. bad recordings sound bad as recordings vary from studio to studio.
That's why many prefer warm sounding speakers.. these stuff make almost everything sound good.
But warm sounding speakers aren't good for movies as the dialogues will not be clear.

I agree with your view but I think a lot of digital recordings sound very good also. I just put up that post for levity and I find it funny. hehe.
I can't afford a lot of things which are probably more basic and practical to own than buying music etc but what to do..;)

Yeah .. alternative ways are there to achieve similar sound..
Main stream music is generally made for playback on phones..
There's something called loudness war in the music production industry. Which deteriorates the sound quality.
