There were some reports of bitrate reduction recently. Was there any truth in that?

Soundcloud has a 128 Kbps streaming as their focus audience is in the mobile streaming area.
Having said that I'm fine with a low res stream for casual listening.

I usually have it running on my computer while I am working for example.

One of my favorite artists on soundcloudL https://soundcloud.com/krishashok . He dabbles both carnatic and western music comfortably.
Lohapurusha and his spoofs of Harris Jeyaraj compositions are wonderful. A person who has a serious take on fun side of music.
